Welcome to our house in Marcillac-Lanville. The house was built around 1830 and is extremely charming. The house is full of art, artifacts and carpets we have collected from our travels around the world, and a beautiful pool in the garden. The town of Marcillac-Lanville boasts an épicerie, a hair dresser and a fabulous pizza place, Caramelo's Pizza! It is a very welcoming town, with a 12th century well preserved Abbey to visit. Enjoy a lovely glass of wine by the pool and take it all in. The house was built around 1830 and is extremely charming. It has three bedrooms, two with double beds and one with two single beds. There are two full bathrooms, one with a tub and one with a shower. The ground floor hosts a salon, dining room, and kitchen and an indoor/outdoor veranda. Just a note, due to an interesting design, our refrigerator is not in the kitchen , but in the pantry/utility area. The first floor has two large bedrooms, both with large double beds. The second floor has the third bedroom as well a large bathroom with a tub. The house is full of art, artifacts and carpets we have collected from our travels around the world. There is a large, flat screen television in the salon. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, coffee machine, kettle and toaster. Marcillac Lanville is ideally placed in the Cognac region of France, within 30 minutes, you can visit the charming town of Cognac and take a tour of one of the Cognac houses or go Kayaking on the beautiful Charente river. The beautiful city of Bordeaux is only an hour away where you can either visit this historic city, or do a wine tatsting in one of the fascinating wineyards!

La maison de Leela et Willy est magnifique : grande, belle, très bien équipée dans un environnement très calme. Notre famille de 5 personnes a été chaleureusement accueillie par Leela et Willy qui sont des hôtes 5 étoiles : aidants, attentionnés et très agréables. Nous recommandons cette maison, sa piscine impeccable !

Mooi en gezellig huis - alle faciliteiten aanwezig. Super vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenaars. Veilig zwembad, heel rustige omgeving. Leuk kajakken in de omgeving.

Leela is een geweldige host, heel vriendelijk en steeds behulpzaam. De woning is groot en heel mooi ingericht. We waren met 5 en er was meer dan plaats genoeg. We hebben er een heel fijne tijd gehad eind juli hoewel het niet het beste weer was. Het was er heel rustig en we zaten vaak aan het zwembad, dat wat koud was maar heel fijn om in te zwemmen. En dat vonden de zwaluwen ook die er vliegend van dronken. Mooie herinneringen op een mooie plek.

The town of Marcillac-Lanville boasts an épicerie/tabac, a hair dresser and a fabulous pizza place, Caramelos! It is a very welcoming town, with a 12th century well preserved Abbey to visit. We are surrounded by farms and you may run into a chicken, sheep, cow, or occasionally even a horse! Sunrises and sunsets cannot be beat. Enjoy a lovely glass of wine by the pool and take it all in.
Aigre is 5 km away and has 4 restaurants, a bar, two bakeries and several other shops. The nearest ATM is in Aigre. Additionally, Carrefour contact is in Aigre and has a wonderful butcher and a shellfish seller in the parking lot on Sunday mornings. Aigre also hosts a farmers market every Thursday morning. Finally, the Gautier cognac house is in Aigre and tours and tastings can be booked.
Cognac is a quick 35 minute drive from Marcillac-Lanville. You can do a tour of any of the larger cognac houses, or simply enjoy a great meal near the river.
Angouleme is about 45 minutes away and a several historical buildings, a nice town square, and many amazing restaurants. The quarries at Touverac are a sight not to miss and are approximately an hour away.
Futuroscope is approximately 75 minutes away (north of Poitiers) and is a lot of fun for kids and adults. Oradour sur Glane is also 75 minutes away. This village was destroyed during World War II, and has been preserved this way.
Of course, Bordeaux and La Rochelle are great day trips!
There are many charming small villages/cities in the vicinity, Montignac, Tusson (enjoy great cake at Gateaux), Nanteuil and Verteuil are just a few. If you enjoy brocantes, you can access the brocante calendar and enjoy any number of nearby shopping experiences.
The closest airport is Poitier (95km). Limoges airport is about 100 kilometers away. Bordeaux airport is 162 kilometers and a little over two hours away. Angouleme and Bordeaux are both well connected to the French train system.
While Marcillac-Lanville is ideally placed to visit a number of unique places in France, we would encourage you to enjoy the quiet, swim in the pool and relax in our special house.

Thanks so much for considering our property. We are from France and the United States, but have lived overseas for many years. We love South Asia, Africa and the Middle East and you will see our travels reflected in the decor of the house. Charente is a lovely part of France that we now call home.
