Beachside has been a unique holiday location since 1879. Perfect as a couple's retreat or a family holiday, it sits beside a sandy sheltered beach and is 5 minutes walk from an expansive ocean beach. Peace, seclusion and sea views. Sheltered heritage comfort on a large block of land. Enjoy the BBQ, outdoor eating. Explore, in the canoes or on foot, the area’s history. Watch the unspoilt night skies or the penguins. Beachside offers 19th century ambience, modern conveniences, and seaside location. Its cosy feel is perfect for a couple, but it can accommodate more within its 2 double and 2 single bedrooms. Relax in the TV free lounge with large skylight and wood fire, browse the extensive library, and listen to vinyl music or radio, or wifi accessible entertainment. Games and toys for adults and children of all ages are available. The kitchen with its bay window, large dining table, and modern range is well equipped. The bathroom has a modern shower and an antique tin bath, and a washing machine. Outside is the BBQ and tables and chairs for alfresco dining. Three single and 1 double canoes can be enjoyed by our guests and buoyancy aids are available. The large sheltered back yard has a fire pit.

Old world charm is not for everyone so be sure this is what you are wanting

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Beachside. The location was great - so close to the lagoon and within walking distance to a beautiful beach and the lighthouse. The kids love cooking marshmallows on the firepit. The beds were comfortable and although it was a rustic 'shack' and quirky in so many ways, it was clean and comfortable.

This was a delightful place to stay. Character, history and quiet. We all felt at home and could see us returning to spend at least a week soaking up the atmosphere and going for swims everyday.

Low Head is a beautiful coastal area of Tasmania where the Tamar River enters the ocean, only 40 minutes from Launceston. Popular as a holiday destination since the 1870s, it is a quiet beachside community that offers several sheltered sandy beaches and a long expanse of ocean beach. The Low Head lighthouse, the convict built historic Pilot Station, and maritime museum are in walking distance. The area has over 70km of bike trails (Mt George and Tippogore Hills), and is surrounded by vineyards, orchards and berry farms. For those interested in diving, the waters feature abundant marine life including soft corals and sea horses. The depth in the Tamar Estuary is up to 45 metres and wreck diving is available.

The area provides a number of lovely walks and is bike friendly. The locale of Beachside is flat with only Low Head itself rising above the ocean. Close by, the region becomes more a rolling rural environment with its vineyards, orchards and farms. Parking throughout the area is free and easily accessible.
