34 South:
This vibrant restaurant has a breathtaking view of the Knysna lagoon. It offers a range of dishes including fresh oysters (a local speciality), succulent seafood, and juicy steaks.
Bao Wow:
A favourite with locals, it offers vietnamese style bao buns and Asian salads. Great for take out.
East Head Café:
Situated at the mouth of the lagoon, the café offers stunning views and delicious cuisine. Their breakfasts are particularly loved by visitors.
île de païn:
A must-visit for food enthusiasts, this bakery-cum-café offers artisan breads, pastries and a creative menu that includes breakfasts and lunches.
Maillard Bakery: Knysna is blessed with amazing bakeries but Maillard is arguably the best. Keeping it simple, they are open Tues - Sat 10am - 6pm and serve delicious pizzas and daily baked goods. Must try: pancetta and hot honey pizza.
Sour Loaf: Also open on Mondays, which many of the above aren’t, Sour Loaf is a great option for fresh bread, take away sandwiches, or a barista coffee on their terrace.
Nest:
Next to ile de pain and run by the same kitchen, Nest offers delicious modern inspired dishes overlooking the waterfront and lagoon. Great to watch the sunset outside on their deck or for dinner. Must try: their mussel pot on Wednesdays.
Activities
Knysna Lagoon:
Try water sports such as sailing, kite surfing, or stand-up paddleboarding on the lagoon. You can also rent a canoe and explore the estuary.
Knysna Elephant Park:
Experience close encounters with these magnificent creatures in a controlled and safe environment.
Knysna Forest:
A paradise for nature lovers, there are several hiking trails that take you through the beautiful, lush forest. Don't miss the famous King Edward VII Tree, a giant Outeniqua Yellowwood.
Featherbed Nature Reserve:
This private nature reserve offers a 2.2 km scenic walk, a buffet lunch at the outdoor restaurant, and a boat trip.
Knysna Heads:
Visit these two dramatic sea cliffs that guard the entrance to the Knysna lagoon from the surging ocean. The eastern head has a lookout with spectacular views.
Simola Golf and Country Estate & Pezula Golf and Country Estate:
If you love golf, you can't miss the chance to play a round on this championship golf course with stunning views of the surrounding landscapes.
Beaches
Buffalo Bay (Buffelsbaai):
Located a short drive from Knysna, this beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and even surfing.
Brenton-on-Sea:
This is a beautiful, clean beach with stunning views and it's perfect for long walks. Be sure to look out for dolphins and whales during the season.

Knysna Friday Market:
Visit this market for great food, craft beers, local wines and live music. (Only 10mins drive from the house).
Wild Oats Saturday Market:
This must be one of South Africa’s most bustling markets. You can find everything from local organic produce to African arts and crafts. We highly recommend going before 10am to avoid the crowds. A must see!
Knysna Motor Show:
If you're visiting in May, you might catch the annual Knysna Motor Show, showcasing vintage and classic cars.
Oyster Festival:
Usually held in June or July, this is a week-long celebration of the town's famous oysters, with music, sports events, and of course, plenty of oysters to sample.

Here's some information to help you navigate your way around and manage parking during your stay.
Parking:
Our property provides parking for up to three cars. Please note that the parking area is not undercover but is secure within the property boundaries. Ensure to lock your vehicles and keep any valuables out of sight for safety.
Location and Navigation:
Eastford Country Estate is conveniently located and easily found on both GMaps and Waze. Just type "Top Gate Eastford Country Estate" into your chosen navigation app, and you'll be guided directly to us.
Gate Access:
The estate has two gates for entrance and exit - a main gate located at the bottom and a top gate closer to the Simola entrance. We only use the top gate for its convenience. To find this on G Maps, simply input "Top gate Eastford Country Estate".
The gate requires a remote for both entry and exit, which we will provide for you. If you're exiting from inside the estate without the remote, you can use the exit code 3388# on the gate's keypad.
