Oleander Cottage is a peaceful ,beautiful place, built and designed with style and attention to detail. It's a lovely, comfortable cottage with everything you need for your stay. There is even an extra outdoor kitchen and shower in a private courtyard. Views from the cottage and patio are amazing with hills and trees below and views to the sea. The pool is lovely for a swim, or you can watch the swallows dipping over it. Petros and Clive are very welcoming and Petros gave a lot of his time talking to us and recommending places to visit and restaurants to eat at. You will need a car here to get around. We loved our stay here, but it wasn't long enough!
Great place ✌️(Petros and Clive are so nice, and polite people I wish I had more time to have a chat with them ) 💜 a place that you must visit when in Kythira 🍀🙏🧿
Fantastic view . very beautiful tiny house . Its a place to relax . Petros is a very good host he explains everything and tell us many things about the island .
Well let's talk about a truly 5 star accommodation. Far from a very beautiful apartment with stunning view and brilliant decoration was a place that provided a hight aesthetic experience. Every furniture, every item serves a purpose. The selection of colors and materials relaxes you the most. Also has a beautiful backyard with a shower that you can have a shower under the moon full in privacy and discretion. It's a peaceful place that you can leave your soul there. Petros and Clive were wonderful hosts. Very kind and helpful. It was an amazing experience.
Oleander cottage is an amazing spot, situated at the top of Kythira's greenest lushest valley. The little stone house is beautifully designed and recently built - though looks like it's been on that hillside 100 years. It's cool even on the hottest days (we were there in a heatwave) and from your terrace - or even your bed - you can watch the sun rise over the Peloponnese as it warms the Agean sea. It's 15mins drive to some beautiful beaches, the town and tavernas are just down the road. Shower under the wild starry sky while falcons skim the pool to drink... oh yeah, there's a pool - naturally cleaned. Petros and Clive are generous and super helpful - they gave us an annotated map and shared their detailed knowledge of the island and what it has to offer... we didn't see much of them - you have total privacy in the cottage - but when we did they were friendly and kind and made sure we were okay. Kythira is an amazing place, rugged and wild, pure Greek. Go.
Kythira, famed by Hesiod for being the birthplace of Celestial Aphrodite, (goddess of love and beauty) is today a natural paradise. Having remained largely undiscovered by international tourism means that the island appeals to an eclectic mix of artists, peace seekers and nature lovers.
GERAKARI, a small hill top hamlet is an agrarian idyll surrounded by vineyards, vegetable plots and sheep grazing fields. Nestling on the edge of the hamlet, our hill-top home offers breathtaking views to the AEGEAN and the Peloponnese beyond. Our home borders the magnificent forest of Gerakari which is the largest forested area on the island, ideal for hiking or solitude.
Summer on Kythira is often about the stunning BEACHES and cooling off: the nearest beaches: Platia Amos, Fourni, Agia Pelagia, Kalamiti and Firi Amos (off Pelagia) are reached within approximately 15 - 20 minutes by car. Nearby are Agios Nikolaos and Likouthimou, and there are numerous other beaches both developed with facilities, and isolated and remote, scattered all over the island.
Make a trip to the marine rock-pool close to Limnionas (a huge natural rock pool raised two meters above sea-level) or visit the waterfall at Mylopotamos, and ramble further down the shady valley, plunging into numerous crystal-clear river pools.
Enjoy a wide choice of restaurants, tavernas and bars within a 10- 20 minute drive.
The commercial capital of POTAMOS is a 7km drive (10 minutes) from the house, and offers many facilities: restaurants, cafés, bars, a pharmacy, fuel station, post-office, supermarkets, gift and tourist shops, and ATMs; as well as a good hospital.
Don’t miss the swarming SUNDAY MORNING MARKET where locals gather in the central square selling fresh local produce: preserves, olive oil, soap, salt, honey, hand made jewellery and handycrafts. Take a break to enjoy a coffee, fresh drink, or an ouzo and a snack whilst the bustle of the market goes on around you. Then plunge back into the milieu to find your next bargain, gift or much cherished memento to take back home with you.
Visit the ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM, where local artifacts reaching as far back as the Paleolithic era and on to the Minoan, Mycenaean and Hellenic periods, as well as more recent items are tastefully and skilfully exhibited.
Of particular interest, and well worth a visit, are the atmospheric remains of PALEOCHORA, an abandoned Byzantine village raided in 1537 by the notorious Ottoman pirate Barbarossa, and it has been left untouched ever since.
Kythira has become a year round HIKERS paradise, and has a well maintained and ever expanding network of hiking trails to explore.
For the adventurous: rock-climbing and a diving school are available.
Massage, shiatsu, acupuncture, yoga and a herbalist are available on Kythira.
Cultural events and concerts are regularly organised on the island

The cottage is 7km (10 min drive) from Potamos, the largest town on the island which offers the ameneties of a thriving market town.
It is 6.8km to the nearest beaches at Agia pelagia, where there is also a choice of beachside tavernas.
