Dunrossness · 整套民居 · 1室0床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Driftwood Cottage
This traditional cottage has been recently renovated to provide a modern, quirky and cosy home away from home. A scenic, relaxing setting to get away from it all and a great base for exploring Shetland. With magnificent sea views, Driftwood provides beautiful coastal walks from your doorstep. During the summer months, your nearest neighbours are Shetland ponies who may peer over the fence to say hello. There's plenty of outdoor space to enjoy watching local wildlife along the shoreline. Driftwood is within 10 minutes of Sumburgh airport and around a 25 minute drive from Lerwick. It offers an ideal base for exploring Shetland. The cottage has a large kitchen with a breakfast bar for dining and a snug area with a sofa. The kitchen is well equipped with electric hob and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer, washing machine and radio. The cosy living room has a wood burning stove, a corner sofa and comfy armchair, large wall mounted TV and well stocked bookshelves. The bedroom has a comfy double bed, plenty of wardrobe space and a beautiful view over the sea to watch the sun rise if you're an early bird. There is also a blackout blind for the light summer nights when it doesn't get dark! There is a large power shower in the bathroom along with toilet, sink, mirror and storage space. A sun porch provides ample space for outdoor clothing, boots etc and has a good seating area. The garden is a great place to sit out and enjoy the surrounding scenery and wildlife. We've spotted seals, pods of dolphins, basking sharks, an occassional otter and even an orca or two in the sea below the house.
Beautifully appointed cottage with wonderful sea views. In easy reach of south mainland of Shetland as well as Lerwick and road to north mainland and ferries to northern isles. Helena was very helpful particularly with local knowledge and always responded immediately.
Such a beautiful place to stay - we were made to feel so welcome and everything we needed was there. We enjoyed the lounge with its fireplace and collection of books and local leaflets - a nice touch! The bedroom had an electric heater on a timer, as did the kitchen; and there was plenty of high pressure hot water. Would stay again!
A well stocked local shop/post office/fuel pumps are within a 5 minute drive.
A 5 minute walk will take you to the Crofthouse Museum where you can experience life in Shetland 100 years ago.
Shetland's iconic archaeological sites of Jarlshof and Old Scatness as well as Sumburgh Head lighthouse and cafe and the Quendale Mill are all within a short drive.
The south of Shetland offers some of our most stunning beaches such as St Ninians Isle and Spiggie which are also within a short drive.
