My partner and I stayed at Paolo's place for 28 days, and unfortunately we won't be returning. We arrived and the whole house had clearly been neglected for a long time. We spent 2 DAYS CLEANING the place from top to bottom: the floors, blankets on the couches, windows, bathrooms, etc. -It had a strong old, musty smell in it that needed to be aired out a couple days just to make it liveable. -Our clothes were covered in large clumps of animal hair/dirt everywhere we walked or sat down. -The floor in the 'weight room' was covered with hundreds of dead bees. Not sure what's going on there. -The washing machine had smelly sheets in it. I'm guessing someone forgot to put them in the dryer? Despite the excess dirt everywhere, it was clear the house was not cared for between the windows falling apart, peeling paint everywhere, and general feeling of disorganization throughout. The only saving grace was that the property is spacious, peaceful and has horses on site (which I love!).
Was a lovely stay at Paolo's. Very spacious and private. Exactly what we were looking for to unwind. Not for those looking for the lap of luxury. There was a bit of a "bachelor pad" atmosphere to the house, needing some tlc and all that, but it didn't devalue our stay. The spaciousness of the house was perfectly suited to our needs while we used it as a homebase to explore/hike some of Ireland's gorgeous nature reserves. Paolo was very helpful and even arranged for an extra mattress so we'd be more comfortable. Definitely would recommend the place to others looking for a place away from it all. Personal transport is definitely necessary, though. Nice and remote.
I stayed in Paolo's house for three weeks. Paolo is a lovely host, really helpful. He's abroad, so everything was done remotely, but there was no problem. The house is very isolated and quiet. It's in a good location in that it's half way between Tralee and Listowel, and 20 minutes from the amazing beach Banna Strand, and close to other great beaches too. It's a good touring base for visits to the Dingle peninsula and the south west of Ireland in general, where there are so many spectacular places to see. Local people were friendly and helpful and I had a great time. Thanks again Paolo!
Wir hatten es uns anders vorgestellt und waren etwas enttäuscht. In der Küche war der Müll nicht ausgeleert und roch schon schlecht. Die Handtücher hatten Flecken und im Wäschetrockner war noch Wäsche.
it's isolated, the nearest neighbors are 500 meters away, the nearest town is Kilflynn 3.7 km away, in Kilflynn there's only a very small shop so you may have to go to buy food in Abbeydorney or if you go to Tralee you may find there many shops and supermarket
you need a car or motorbike , by car you can quickly go to Tralee in 15 minutes.
by bike it's hard to climb the hill, but if you are strong..
walking is a problem because there's no sidewalk and the road is narrow.
there's a bus stop called Kilflynn Cross at 2.5 km with buses going to Tralee or Listowel some times a day
in Kilflynn, 3.7 km, there's a small shop, a pub and a Kebab restaurant, in Tralee you can find many shops, supermarket, entrainment,..
