Yewdale Cottage is one of the oldest cottages in the heart of the 'city' and has the perfect blend of original period features and contemporary amenities. We have a delightful, large garden with stunning cathedral views. Think: exposed beams, art, quirky antiques and gorgeous bed linen. This is a family owned cottage, we let it from Friday to Friday, shorter stays are sometimes available so pop us a message and ask. For a listed, traditional cottage Yewdale has plenty of space. We have included a floor plan with the photos to give a rough idea of the layout. Downstairs you enter via the pretty front garden and from the hallway you have the large living and dining room on your left, complete with gas fire place, comfy sofas, and a TV if you tire of the board games. At the rear of the house you have the kitchen which looks out onto the garden and main bathroom with bath/shower, WC and sink. Upon entering if you’d turned to your right from the hallway there is the downstairs bedroom with a double bed. The kitchen has everything you could possible need and a little bit more, including gas hobs / oven, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge freezer (updated since photos), toaster and kettle. Up the wooden stairs at the back of the lounge and you have a large landing with three sleeping areas and a bathroom. The master bedroom is gorgeous, with views of the cathedral and its own washbasin and mirror. There is also a single bedroom, and an area on the landing with a further single bed that has a curtain for privacy. The bathroom has a sink and WC. There is also plenty of storage and even more charming character. You can access the large garden either via the side access or from the backdoor between the downstairs bathroom and kitchen. There’s a shed which houses the washing machine and parasol + pillows for the outside table and chairs.
Great location with all St David’s best bits on the doorstep. Use of the public car park very easy with on-line tickets at £30 for the week. Walks to Whitesands and other beaches all within a couple of miles. Great week had by all.

This is my second stay at Yewdale Cottage. It’s a great place to stay with all the facilities you need. Lovely decor in keeping with the age and history of the cottage. Comfortable beds with quality bed linen. The location is excellent for the town and Catholic and the wonderful coastline too. Altogether brilliant…. Ps and thanks for the Welsh cakes 😂🏴
A wonderful home from home. Comfy clean and beautiful inside and out. Great location. A++
The picturesque city of St. David’s in Pembrokeshire is the perfect place for a sea-side or walking holiday in Wales. Yewdale Cottage is within easy walking distance of many of the attractions of the area, being only a stone’s throw from St. David’s Cathedral and close to the centre of the ‘city’ with its wealth of fine restaurants, tea shops and galleries.
St. David’s is the smallest city in the UK, renowned for its spectacular coastal scenery, staggering cliffs, covered with flowers in May and June and a nesting place for many varieties of birds. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path provides excellent walking round the peninsula. Numerous coves and harbours offer a wide range of activities, from boat trips to nearby Ramsey Island Bird Sanctuary, to diving, fishing and rock climbing.
The beautiful, green flag beach at Whitesands provides excellent swimming and is overlooked by a nine-hole golf course. The sandy cove at Caerfai is only a mile away. A footpath opposite the cottage gives access in minutes to the Cathedral with its newly restored Cloisters and Refectory. The choir enjoys an international reputation and the Cathedral is a venue for regular concerts and recitals.
There are buses from Haverfordwest, where there is a railway station, but it's much easier to get around if you have a car as this is quite a remote part of Pembrokeshire.

Yewdale Cottage is owned by three brothers: Robert, Michael and Richard. The admin is run by a team of family members (!) but Rob's wife Ellie handles the bookings. Thank you for visiting our listing and considering staying at Yewdale Cottage for your holiday. Our mum is from a family of vicars and farmers from around St. David’s. Because of her ancestry we really feel part of the community and know Pembrokeshire well. Yewdale Cottage is very much a home and contains many objects from the family’s past. The visitors seem to like our quirky taste, which suits the cottage, one of the oldest in the city. It's a beautiful old building, but it's been updated with modern bathrooms, a new kitchen and the beds all have super-soft 300 thread-count cotton bedlinen. All our family members (the youngest is 1 and the oldest is 72!) appreciate what Pembrokeshire has to offer – namely: walking on the cliffs, exploring beautiful bays, enjoying the freedom and the wildlife, visiting the cathedral (which is just below the cottage) and eating too much in the many excellent pubs and restaurants in and around St. David’s. The children surf and go coasteering and eat even more than we do! We hope to welcome you to our cottage soon.
