It was a great disappointment, especially as Daniela took no responsibility when problems appeared… as they did quite a bit. It smelled moldy in the house, there are construction sites right next door, a surveillance camera records the guests on the terrace and we froze at night without adequate blankets. Daniela refused to provide more blankets and responded very impolitely with much aggression, as she did to other requests as well. In the end her laundry machine was defect, we were unable to recover our clothes, she blamed us, refused to return our clothes to us and kept insulting us. Gratefully Airbnb gave us a compensation and were very helpful in their response. But till today Daniela keeps our clothes :D It could all have been solved and talked out if it hadn’t been for the aggressive tone of her communication and her unwillingness to take and kind of responsibly. (Please have a look at my other reviews and you will see that in my many years of using the platform I never had such
Soggiorno davvero gradevole! Abbiamo passiamo due giorni in questa casa e ci siamo trovate davvero bene! Daniela è stata molto gentile e sempre disponibile per qualsiasi informazione. A due passi dal mare e dalle vie principali di Marzamemi.
We had really nice stay. The communication with Daniela was proactive and easy and the apartment was perfect as described. Thank you
Little white and blue houses worn out by the saltiness, small wooden boats and the scent of the sea. This small seaside village in the province of Syracuse is Marzamemi. It rises entirely on the sea and its name comes from the Arabic "Marsà al hamen," meaning Bay of the Turtledoves, the birds that pass through here in spring. Another hypothesis instead has it that its name comes from the simple union of the two Arabic words marza (port) and memi (small).
Little alleys, scents, and fishermen selling their catch every day!
Marzamemi is small and can be visited exclusively on foot. We begin the walk from the promenade that overlooks Isola Piccola, known as Islet Brancati. The small port la Balata, which, along with the Fossa, is one of Marzamemi's two small natural harbors. Picturesque and colorful fishermen's boats are usually docked here. The port is also overlooked by the famous Tonnara di Marzamemi, one of the oldest and most important in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, second only to that of Favignana. Then walking down the small and picturesque Vicolo Villadorata, past the arch, you will enter the heart of the ancient Borgo di Marzamemi: Piazza Regina Margherita. At the end of the alley is the old Church of San Francesco da Paola, or Church of the Tonnara. On the opposite side of the square, stands the new Church of San Francesco da Paola, built in 1945 in sandstone, a typical local material.
Among the most beautiful beaches in Marzamemi are the Spiaggia della Spinazza, the Baia del Cavettone, the Spiaggia di San Lorenzo, the Spiaggia di Vendicari, of the Spiaggia di Calamosche.
Nearby within a few minutes' drive are Portopalo di Capo Passero, the small island of Correnti and the Vendicari Nature Reserve.
