Unfortunately we arrived just as all the roads out of the area were closed! The gales and snow had lead to Iceland being shut down in June. It has to be said that on the first night we were terrified the cabin was going to blow away and whilst the room was cold the beds were warm and comfy. It was -6 outside and wind had gusts up to 80kmh. Due to the weather we ended up staying another night and have to say we were very well looked after with hot meals being cooked for us, log burner and refreshments too. Would recommend to anyone for local cheerfulness and friendliness. Can’t comment on the views as we can’t see them though we were shown some spectacular photos of the area! Thank you for looking after us so well!

Da wir in der nebensaison dort waren, hatten wir den schönen großen Aufenthaltsraum fast ganz für uns alleine. Es war unglaublich schön, diese Ruhe zu genießen und in die Ferne zu schauen. Es kamen mal ein paar Fischer vorbei die sich etwas warmes zu trinken gemacht haben. Der Gastgeber war immer erreichbar und hat schnell geantwortet. Die Sauna konnten wir uns selbst an machen und für das Frühstück auch selber bedienen. Ein großer Kühlschrank stand zur Verfügung und die Küche konnte man benutzen. Die Zimmer waren auch sehr sauber. Vielleicht trifft man in der Hauptsaison dort mehr Menschen an, aber für uns war es ein sehr ruhiger Ort den wir auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen können! :)

Enter the road to "Massel" and you will find the cottages. Everything else was ok. We saw the aurora borealis in a spectacular darkness.

Cabin was very neat and easy to find(bit off road) Had good breakfast options. Quiet and serene. Suitable for couples other than fishermen
