Moments away from the harbour is our peaceful coastal cottage. A marriage of rustic Scandi and British design, from the minute you step through the gate into the private garden (a rarity in a Mousehole) you will be transported to a haven of Cornish calm. With plenty of soft whites, wood and natural fabrics the cottage is designed with comfort in mind, but you’ll also find selected artwork, antique pieces and the normal mod-cons. A perfect retreat for two or a cosy bolt hole for four. Situated on Mousehole Lane, just up the hill from the harbour (which if you are staying in the summer months or school holidays believe us you will appreciate), our cottage is a peaceful retreat. Unusually for a coastal village cottage we have a private garden and even a little stream running past the additional courtyard to the rear. To the front of the house, the lounge has a large navy-blue velvet sofa - big enough to sprawl over, plus a lovely leather loveseat. The soft wooden floors are stained white, and there's an open fire for cosy nights. With a Smart TV (complete with Fire stick), a record player, Bose speaker and a selection of books and games if you choose to stay in then we have you covered. Separated from the living room by a vintage glass half wall is the kitchen dining room. We love cooking and the surrounding area provides a wonderful local larder of ingredients. Your will find everything you need to whip up a 3-course meal or a beach BBQ. We also have all the normal kitchen appliances expected - dishwasher, KitchenAid, blender and the all-important Nespresso coffee machine. To complete the ground floor is a bathroom and utility with a door to the rear courtyard. Plenty of room to store sandy or wet outdoor kit with a washing machine and tumble dryer should you need them. Upstairs there are two bedrooms to choose from. To the front is a large king size room. The bed is swathed in soft white cottons hiding the king-sized bed like the sails of the ship. Stripped-back floorboards, Moroccan plaster walls, a decorative fireplace and (faux) furs finish the room off. In addition, there's a SONOS for creating the soundtrack to lazy lie-ins and breakfast in bed. From the smaller second bedroom to the rear you can hear the stream behind. This also has a kingsize bed (with clever storage underneath for bags). The bed is a zip and link bed, so can be separated into two small singles (suitable for children/young adults). The custom hand printed gold leaf wallpaper is a real contrast to the otherwise minimal style of this room. The main bathroom has both an incredible oval free-standing bath made for long soaks, with luxurious bath salts provided. Additionally, there's a fab shower with rainfall head, heated towel rail and brilliant touches such as the vintage table holding the sink and quirky bathroom cabinet lined with vintage paper. You can also see all the way down to the harbour from here whilst lying in the bath or brushing your teeth. Outdoors we have a private sun-trap of a garden complete with a sofa and chairs, perfect for summer nights, or for cooler evenings there is a fabulous outdoor fire-pit with plenty of blankets, made for cuddling up and toasting marshmallows. To the back of the property lies a small courtyard which backs on to a lovely stream. There's a marble table and chairs- perfect for breakfast or morning coffee. We also have a Ninja Woodfire grill & smoker and portable Heston Blumenthal Cube BBQ. Parasol, beach chairs and a picnic hamper that you can use for ventures further afield are also provided for days out.
