Quiet apartment complex with lots of greenery and a children's playground right outside the apartments. Ice hockey field, fotball court, outdoor gym and swimming hall are in the immediate vicinity. 5-10 minute walk to Økern subway with good bus and subway connections to get around Oslo.
The popular Løren district is also a 10-minutes walk from the apartment with several exciting restaurants. There is also a small center with a pharmacy and Meny grocery store. The menu has a fresh meat counter and a fresh fish and cheese counter. A more expensive grocery store, but with a good selection if you want to add a little more ingredients to a dinner during your stay. The nearest grocery store (Kiwi) is five minutes away from the apartment. Cheaper grocery store with a good selection and long opening hours from 07.00-23.00 except Sundays.
It takes 10 minutes from the nearby subway station to Oslo S. There are two large shopping centers here, Byporten and Oslo City, as well as the start of the Karl Johans shopping street that goes up to the castle. In this area you will also get to experience "new" Oslo with the Opera House, the new main library and Munchmusset with a fantastic restaurant with a sea view at the top. From here it is also a short walk to Youngstorget with outdoor dining and nightlife during the day and night. If you continue to the end of the street, you cross the Akerselven over the Ankerbrua, you reach the district of Grunerløkka with restaurants, niche shops and vintage shops as well as nightlife.
In summary, on Økern you live quietly, but have a short distance to city life and fields. Recommends guests to download the Tripadvisor app as it is easy to see restaurants, shopping centers etc. around the city. It's also worth downloading the #RUTER# app, which you pay for for bus, metro and tram tickets, as well as for them to lay out the best possible route from A to B.

If you are going to use public transport, it is recommended to download the "ruter" app for public transport. It is a 5-10 minutes walk to Økern subway/metro station, which takes you quickly around the whole of Oslo.
Otherwise, the track (4 and 5) from Økern or Løren is the best alternative if you want to go towards the city centre.
