Wake up to the morning sun over the lake in the loft, or rise after the sun in one of the two back bedrooms. Enjoy a warm morning coffee while enjoying the lake view from the bar top overlooking the water and watch for the Swans, Bald Eagles, and Blue Herons. After a hike on the trails, kayaking up the lake into conservation land, or fishing off the dock, relax in the hot tub. As the sun sets over the trees cuddle up on the couch with a good book and keep an ear out for the owls. This lakefront home built in the 1920s is built in a community made up of lots given away at bingo games! It is a fully winterized cottage located down a set of stairs through tiered gardens overlooking Eagleville Lake. It has two bedrooms and a loft. The back “Garden” bedroom has a bunk bed with a single on top, and a double on the bottom. It’s a beautiful vaulted room overlooking the garden in the back of the house. The next bedroom or the “Forest” bedroom features a queen bed and dedicated work space also overlooking the back gardens. It is located across from the newly remodeled bathroom with a spacious stand-up shower that has double shower heads. Next to the bathroom is a laundry closet with stacking washer and dryer. The real treat is the great room, which opens up into a vaulted room with a wall of windows overlooking the lake. With built in bookcases and a live edge bar top in front of the window it was created for community, maximum coziness and calm reflection. Above the bookcase is the loft with wonderful views of the water. There is a queen bed and a dresser for storage in the loft, that is accessible by a built in ladder stairway. The galley kitchen with custom cabinetry and granite countertop is the perfect size for vacation cooking and outfitted with all the necessities. The “top” deck is outfitted with all the outdoor seating, lounging and dining options you could need along with an outdoor grill, outdoor shower with hot water (closed for winter), the bottom deck has both lounging and seating options as well along with a fire pit. The hot tub is located on the upper deck overlooking the water, open as long as weather allows or until heavy freezing sets in. There is a private dock with two adult kayaks, one kid’s kayak and a stand-up paddle board for seasonally appropriate use. Eagleville Lake is a 79.6-acre reservoir that is ideal for paddling with access to the Willimantic River where you can paddle upstream as far as the water level allows. There is a state-owned dam and two boat ramps located on the south end of the lake. The lake is shallow with the deepest portion in the south near the dam at 8 feet. It is between 3-6 feet off our dock. So great for wading, floating, or a swim but no diving or jumping. We would suggest water shoes, we have a few pairs here for use by guests. For fall and winter the kayaks are still available, as well as fire pit and hot tub for use. The space is fully heated with baseboard radiators. Cleaning: I personally clean it with sanitization being the top priority. I try to use as many eco friendly products as I can while still maintaining a healthy environment for our guests.
What can I say about this magical house on the lake? Our family made so many happy memories here, and we plan to return again next year, if not sooner! The attention to detail, cleanliness, and soulful design at this lake house is beyond. Everything from the bedding, wall colors, game selection, books, swan inspired trinkets, yoga mats, secret doors, and fanciful loft space felt bespoke for our unique family. It made us feel like we were in a home made specifically for us and our needs. The kids' room and amenities especially stood out, as we have young children. They even had a vintage kid record player in their room, which we used at bedtime! By far, the lake and hot tub will draw you outside for the most of your stay and the nature is out of this world. We saw blue herons, a beaver, turtles, and most delightfully, the resident swan. Eagleville Lake is beautiful and so fun for kayaking for all levels. The hosts are so responsive and helpful! 10/10 recommend and will return!
We had a wonderful time at The Nest! The house is just perfect and the setting is stunning. Beautifully furnished and thoughtfully decorated. Jennifer was a responsive and helpful host; she answered all my questions and made sure we had a good stay. I really hope we can come back when we can appreciate the decks and the lake more! But just sitting in the cozy living room looking out at the view was so nice. Delightful in all ways !
Very pretty home and scenic views for the morning. Unfortunately there was a storm for majority of our stay so outdoor time was limited but there was plenty of board games and we woke up early to get some kayak time in before checking out and it was lovely. There was also a beautiful swan that made my day.
Place was exactly as she described. She left fresh flowers on table, which was a beautiful touch. It was the most peaceful place ive ever stayed. The home was clean and well equipped. Jennifer has thought of everything. We would love to come stay again this summer with the family, when it isnt so cold ( We are from Florida). Thank you Jennifer for letting us stay at you beautiful retreat.
The street is a dead end with access to hiking trails at the end. There is also a community lot with a boat launch and small beach. The street is right after a dam that has beautiful views and additional hiking areas. For train enthusiasts there is a cargo train that goes by morning and night. We are also across from a working quarry so expect some construction-like sound during work hours typically operating Monday-Saturday.
The neighborhood/street is very walkable. Private parking is located across the street from the house, where there is a covered double carport with multiple sheds and parking spots. The property is located 5 minutes from Uconn campus which hosts many events, shows, and sporting events and is a great stay for visitors and parents to campus. Located nearby is the Mansfield Drive-In Movie for a night watching movies from the car, and many Antique shops.

It has always been my dream to run a Bed and Breakfast. With two young kids I realize this season of life does not have much room for a Bed and Breakfast so when I found this house I knew I wanted to share it. I love interior design, being in nature, animals, art, reading and cooking.
