普勒斯顿 · 整套民居 · 1室0床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Jo’s Mid-Century Bungalow with Garden
Nestled in Preston South in Melbourne's inner North, my place is perfect for exploring all Melbourne has to offer. Miller St. village (5 mins walk) has all the essentials, with small shops, cafes, restaurants & a gelato bar. Preston is a lovely, up and coming area with funky cafes & some of the best bars and breweries in Melbourne. You'll be very close to Thornbury, Northcote and Brunswick (all 5-10 mins by car), with the tram just outside taking you to Fitzroy and the city in 30-45 mins. Recently renovated throughout, including wooden floors, and a lovely brand new kitchen, my place is beautifully styled and furnished in mid-century style. Everything from bric a brac, artwork and furniture has been carefully selected from op-shops, markets and vintage stores around the world, over the years! I am very proud of my lovely space and hope you will enjoy it as much as me. You’ll have the entire bungalow to yourselves with the main bedroom for use by guests. There is a large living area, with a dining area adjacent to the kitchen. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook up a storm. There is tonnes of storage space, assorted tea and coffee provided and a coffee machine for those lazy mornings. There is a yard with outdoor dining and seating area and large fully fenced garden. There is a driveway space for exclusive use by guests and plenty of free street parking. The garage will not be for guest access. The property has double glazed windows in the bedroom, ducted heating and evaporative cooling. There is no washing machine at the property, but there is a laundrette at the Miller Street shops (5 min walk). While there is no dedicated workspace, there is excellent wifi with a large dining room table, comfy chairs and a coffee machine.
This house has benefitted from a lot of care and attention to make it feel cosy and lived in, while also welcoming to guests. The use of art, colour and plants made us feel immediately comfortable. We visited in January, not knowing that many stores in Melbourne close for holidays. While conveniently next to a tram line, the nearest restaurant/shopping hub is in Fitzroy North. Many shops nearby were closed, so options were limited on days staying close to home. While Preston is nearby, a poorly timed bus meant having to wait or walk next to a busy main road. While the house has good quality sound insulation, at the end of the day it's still next to a tram line and a 6 lane main road. If you're sensitive/unused to noise keep this in mind. As it was January it was also quite warm, and the evaporative cooling system requires windows to be ajar for airflow. This didn't help with noise, and there was no alternative for high humidity days or at night. We still enjoyed our stay overall.
The house was clean and very cute space with decorations making it feel homey. Self-checkin was easy! I would stay here again.
We had a wonderful stay at Joanne's place. It is exactly as photos show and has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Lovely new kitchen, comfy bed, very nice bathroom products , pantry items etc. Easy access to the city as you are on tram line 11.
Great location next to tram into the city. Lots of space . Nice coffee shops etc nearby. Really enjoyed our stay in Melbourne.
A great place to stay with a lovely homely feel. The place may have a resident pooch because it seemed there was a bit of dander in the underfloor heating vents. The heating was fantastic but brought up allergies. Thankyou for letting us stay in your home for our first trip to Melbourne.
Preston is a fun place to be, while vibrant and up and coming, it retains some old school suburban charm.
My place is close to Merry Creek for lovely walks and picnics, and I'm a 20 minute walk from the must-see Preston markets for some of the best delis and food in town.
There's a lot to see and do in neighbouring suburbs without feeling overwhelmed.
I'm hoping to put together a guidebook of local gems so watch this space.
Miller Street village with cafes and shops 5 mins walk. Preston Market 20 min walk. Thornbury 30 mins walk or 5 mins by car. Northcote (10 mins) and Brunswick 10-15 mins) by car.
The number 11 tram goes from outside my house through past Thornbury, Northcote and through Fitzroy into the city. Approx 30 mins into the city (longer in peak hours).
The number 1 tram is a 10 minute walk away and goes down Sydney Road right through Brunswick.
Bell street train station is a 15 min walk. 15 mins into the city.
All very regular. Let us know if you need help with transport planning.
