Relax in the peace and quiet of a recently renovated stone cottage in the hills above the Soča Valley. Listen to the sounds of the forest: birds chirping, leaves rustling, owls hooting, woodpecker hammering away, cuckoos calling for their next meal and if you're lucky you'll hear a family of jackals howling. Enjoy your meals in the garden, swim in the emerald Soča river (20 min away), go hiking, discover the hidden world of old religion and light a campfire when evening comes. Our old stone house has thick walls that keep the heat out during the summer days. The house is pleasantly cool in summer and air conditioning is not needed. There are four identically sized rooms in the house. The kitchen, bedroom, and living room are located in three of those rooms. The entryway, pantry, and bathroom make up the fourth room. The upper story is reached through wooden stairs. In the bedroom, there is a king size bed and a pull-out sofa (queen size) in the living room. House has a garden and a patio. Because the house is on a slope, the entrance is accesible by going down steps.

Wir waren mit Baby (7M) und Hund in dem Haus - für 30 Tage am Stück. Es war wunderschön und hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Tanja und Hákon waren sehr bemüht und immer gut erreichbar - im Vorfeld und auch während der Zeit. Das Haus ist genauso toll wie auf den Bildern und in einer sehr schönen Umgebung 🌳 Zudem ist es top ausgestattet (wir sind anspruchsvoll was Küchenutensilien angeht und es hat an nichts gefehlt!) Auch für einen langen Aufenthalt wie wir ihn hatten war alles sehr gut geeignet (Waschmaschine etc.) Die Straße bis zum Haus ist geteert und trotz der Steigung auch mit einem größeren SUV (Audi e-tron) gut fahrbar. Für alle E-Auto-Fahrer, es gibt einen DC-Lader direkt neben dem großen Supermarkt in Tolmin. Also auch problemlos machbar 😌👍 Zudem ist die Gegend herrlich zum Radfahren geeignet (die Straßen ringsum sind auch für Rennräder). Alles in allem eine wirklich tolle Unterkunft und super Hosts! Wir können Euch nur raten die Unterkunft zu buchen und empfehlen es 100% weiter.
Deze woning is geweldig. Midden in de natuur en helemaal afgelegen. Van alle gemakken voorzien. Een echte aanrader als je niet gestoord wilt worden. De aanrijroute is al adembenemend.
Tolles altes Haus, mitten in der Natur, liebevoll restauriert. Hier gelingt es voll und ganz zu entspannen, mit der Natur zu gehen, zu wandern, zu lesen, am Abend am Lagerfeuer zu träumen und am Ende die Träume mit den Sternen zu teilen. Im Haus ist alles da, was man braucht, wenn kein Restaurant und Supermarkt in der unmittelbaren Nähe ist. Geräumig ist es für 2 zudem. Wir haben uns rundum wohl und willkommen gefühlt. Ein Traum für alle, die mal richtig "raus" wollen und die Berge, wie Flüsse Sloweniens entdecken wollen.
Wonderful place in nature. Remote enough for peace and quiet but still close to places of interest such as Tolmin gorge and Kozjak waterfall. It was clean and well equipped and had plenty of space for our family of 4. Host was very accommodating and understanding. Will stay again when we come back to the area.
In bergachtige omgeving op aantal km van Most na Soci ligt dit geweldig verblijf. Het huis ligt op een zeer rustige plek waar de stilte heilzaam is. Het huis zelf is netjes, schoon en functioneel. De host is heel behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Ontvangst was persoonlijk en hartelijk. Een echte aanrader!

Our stone house is set in a small, tranquil valley. There is one nearby neighbor house and another further down the valley that can be reached via a picturesque walk over a stone bridge. There are two nice villages nearby. Local road next to the house has little traffic.
The village of Kanalski Lom provides a starting point for an easy 30 minutes hike to the top of the hill Široko, from where opens a breathtaking view of the Soča valley. There is also a restaurant (open on weekends) with excellent local dish - štrukjli.
The town of Most na Soči is a 25-minute drive away. There you'll find a gas station, pharmacy, health center, grocery store, bars and a pizzeria. A 30-minute drive is to the town of Tolmin with all services, a cinema and an interesting local history museum.
Nearby is a circular hiking trail, which runs from across colourful meadows, grasslands, pastures, and cool forests (4 h). Another nice hike is 20 min away by car to the mountain Lašček (1,5 h hike) which is the highest mountain of Banjščice platou (where our valley is situated), from which, on a clear day, you can see from the Alps to the Adriatic Sea.
Banjšice Plateau makes up the far northwest part of the impressive Dinaric Alps. Below Banjščice plateau lies the town of Nova Gorica (a 45-min drive), which was together with Italian Gorizia titled European Capital of Culture 2025.
Italian town of Gorizia is 45 min away by car, Udine 1h 20 min, and Venice 2h 20 min.
Soča river is a wonderful for a swim on a hot summer day. A bit wormer are Idrijca and Nadiža, which lies further up the valley (near Kobarid) and is one of the cleanes and warmest Alpine river. If you would like to bath in the sea, the Italian coast is the closest, with beaches around the town of Sisitiana (1h 15 min).
The southern edges of Triglav National Park are about a half-hour drive away.
The house is only accesible by a car or a motorbike. There is no public transport. Free parking is on the premises. The house offers a nice starting point for cycling trips. The area is hilly, the roads are paved.
A car train that runs between Nova Gorica and Bohinjska Bistrica and stops at Most na Soči provides convenient access to the Soča Valley. From Most na Soči to our location is a 25-minute drive.

Hello! We are an anthropologist from Slovenia (Tanja) and a writer from Iceland (Hákon). We met in Ljubljana, when Hákon came for holidays. Now we live close to Most na Soči in the beautiful Soča valley. We enjoy our house in the forest and being surrounded by nature. We like to read, travel, cook, watch movies - to name a few things. Tanja's favourite book is One Hundred Years Of Solitude, Hákon is more of a Bulgakov man. Also, Hákon can't imagine a day without a Turkish coffee :)
