Any direction you walk leads to interesting sites. Walk or cycle South along the picturesque historic Rideau Canal to reach Ottawa Lansdowne Park where you can attend professional sporting events, take in a movie or enjoy shopping, coffee and restaurants; in the adjacent Glebe neighborhood you will find a strip of boutiques. Further along the canal you will reach Carleton University and the Hogs Back Lock Station set in beautiful natural surroundings. In the opposite direction on Elgin Street, you will come upon many restaurants, the Museum of Nature, the Ottawa Courthouse, the National Arts Centre, the National War Memorial monument, the Parliament Buildings, and adjacent Supreme Court. East from this location you will find the ByWard Market, National Gallery and many more site seeing, shopping, and eating opportunities.

Our home is in a central Ottawa residential neighborhood with easy vehicular access to Ontario Highway 417 (Queensway) with links to Montreal and Toronto. Traveling by car to points of interest in the city core is not always necessary since many sites can be reached on foot. Parking is available in most streets free of charge overnight, or up to 3 hours during the day. Paid parking applies otherwise as indicated on signs.
Popular tourist destinations are within walking distance. Many popular sites are found along the UNESCO world heritage designated Rideau Canal which is located only 2 blocks from the house. You can pleasantly walk or cycle the picturesque length of the canal, or skate on it during winter months.
Local train and bus service can be accessed on the house street a short walk away. The Ottawa International Airport and Intercity Train Station are nearby but not walking distance.
