This place is magical! Huge old growth redwoods were the view we woke to each morning from the comfortable bed beside the cozy fireplace. Carl’s place has all the little extras you may need including a very well stocked kitchen. And everything is clean and well cared for. I really can’t say enough good things about our stay here. There’s even a beautiful beach just a few minutes away… a great place to watch the sunset. Carl is a thoughtful and responsive host and his place is amazing.

While we have been to Trinidad many times, this was our first stay at Popeye's Cottage. It was great! The cabin was clean, peaceful, and quiet. Even though it is pretty close to the house next door, it still feels really private. We appreciated the many windows to let in the light so that the cottage wasn't gloomy, even on rainy days. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pans and had everything we needed; the location is really convenient to town if you want to enjoy Trinidad's restaurants. We love Trinidad for its proximity to the ocean, Sue-meg State Park, and Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, and the cottage was a great home base for us. We would definitely stay again!

Carl was a wonderful host. He was responsive and very kind to me and my family in person. The cabin is in a prime location to easily access the Redwoods and nearby towns. It’s got everything you need for the kitchen, laundry, bathroom and bedding. My kid especially loved the land, loft and fireplace. The adults loved the peace and hot water. We hope to visit again in the future.

What a cute and cozy little cabin in a nicely central location to beautiful beaches and majestic redwood forest trails. I was visited each morning by Hunter Gobbles the turkey and met the biggest banana slug I've seen in quite some time (I call him Bert) on the back porch my second, morning there. Carl was a very friendly and accommodating host. He even reached out the day I was to check in and offered to leave the lights and heater on for me since I was arriving after dark. I would love to stay again sometime!
