Our beautiful family home is in a quiet, picturesque Cotswold village with all the delights of the area on our doorstep - history, art, country walks, brilliant pubs and much more. The house has a huge garden, amazing views and lots of entertaining space for adults and children alike. Parts of our beautiful, golden Cotswold stone home date back to the 16th century, with a recent extension blending in seamlessly to hide a range of modern features. We are delighted to offer guests the chance to stay in our home. The Ground Floor: The kitchen has a real wow factor, offering in-out living in the summer and a cosy feel year-round. Bi-fold doors open onto a lovely terrace and lawn, offering amazing views of the countryside. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and extends out into a large dining area. At the end of a kitchen is a utility room with washing machine and separate, vented tumble dryer available for guest use. Across from the kitchen is the library, a cozy and restful place to read a book and enjoy a fire in the huge inglenook fireplace (wood provided). Through the library is the large TV room, with a corner sofa big enough for the whole family to cuddle up together to watch movies on the giant TV. There is also a small but highly functional wood-burning stove which makes the room lovely and warm on chilly evenings. Next to the TV room is our boys' playroom / study - a space with lots of toys, games, colouring, books, and a TV - a perfect den for little ones. The First Floor Bedroom 1: Part of the recent extension, added to take in the views over the garden / fields. We cannot stress enough how lovely this view is! There is a supremely comfortable king-sized bed and an en-suite shower room with a huge walk-in shower. In between Bedrooms 1 and 2 is the family bathroom, with a large claw-foot bathtub. Bedroom 2: A comfy, king-sized bed with views over the south garden. Bedroom 3: Contains 2 full-sized single beds; recently redecorated with a fun California theme that children love. Bedroom 4: Recently redecorated, with a single-sized bed (it's a little boy's room so not suitable for adults). Bedroom 5: A very large and light room featuring a comfortable king-sized bed and windows on both the north and south gardens. Outside of Bedroom 5 is a lovely shower room. The Garden Our 2 acre garden comes with plenty of delights. There is the orchard, which in summer is abundant in its produce (apples, pears, cherries, quinces)...you're welcome to help yourself. We have a handmade gypsy caravan, complete with a little table and play stove, in which children absolutely love to play. Kids will enjoy the trampoline at the bottom of the garden - which we built into the ground and has netting for safety (though supervision is still required). Little ones will also like the small swing-set and slide. At the bottom of the garden is a large pond and boat house, a perfect spot to catch the evening sun and maybe even a glimpse of our resident heron. We also have a little vegetable patch and a set of raspberry canes. The garage houses an office and gym - complete with weight bench, treadmill, cross-trainer and weights. The terrace has a comfortable outside sofa and chairs, along with a large outside dining table (for 8-10). Parking is immediately adjacent and we can easily accommodate up to 5 cars.
Juley’s property is nothing short of spectacular. It is a quintessential Cotswolds home with all of the features one would need for a lovely family holiday. We hope to come back in the future!
A wonderfully appointed family home on vast grounds in a great location in the Cotswolds. The house is so well appointed and great for spending time you could easily just laze around the house for your whole stay.
Wonderful garden with great views! We were welcomed by Glenda the housekeeper who explained everything to us kindly. My mum was worried we'd feel like we were intruding by staying in someones home but it was absolutley fine. We really enjoyed sitting on the terrace and using the firepit, we were able to use the firewood left in the garage. It was a great place for an active family holiday, walking from the front door to the Rollright stones, golf, wild swimming, cycling (we were able to borrow a bike), kayaking near by. We had bought lots of sports things with us like bikes and rackets but Juley had left alot of these out for the guests to use, even board games!
We had the most wonderful country Christmas at Juley's beautiful home. It really couldn't have been better. Its a magical location as the house is nestled into a huge beautiful garden, rolling down to a little lake in a picturesque Cotswold hamlet. Juley provides wonderful local information and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local pubs. The house is exactly what I love about airbnb - you feel like you are staying in a truly personalised home without any of the soulless elements which "rental"properties can feel like. Juley has a fabulous fully equipped kitchen which she invites you to use the basics and replace them which made cooking Christmas lunch for 8 people a dream. The house is beautifully kept and super clean and lots of space for all of us. I would highly recommend this wonderful home.
There's lots of information online around the Cotswolds but here are a few highlights from our perspective, depending on your interest:
- For families: outside the obvious attractions of the house's gardens, there are playgrounds in nearby Chipping Norton and Moreton in Marsh, as well as the Cotswold Farm Park (about 20 minutes) and Cotswold Wildlife Park (about 35 minutes). For mini-knights, princesses, kings, queens or poets, Warwick Castle and Stratford upon Avon are both around 30 minutes away.
- For shoppers: the Cotswold villages and towns are packed with quirky antique shops, art galleries and boutique clothing stores. Daylesford is about 10 minutes away, with the bigger towns of Stratford, Cheltenham and Oxford each around half-an-hour.
- For foodies: the village does not have a pub but we're surrounded by good options a hearty walk away (three different village pubs, each a couple of miles away). If you're looking for something a little more upmarket, we're surrounded by good options. The Kingham Plough and Wild Rabbit in Kingham, and the Chequers in Churchill have all won awards in recent years and are 10 minutes drive away.
We are 4 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh train station and about 40 minutes from bigger rail hubs (Oxford, Banbury and Cheltenham). By car the journey from London takes around an hour and 40 minutes, depending on traffic.
This location is not recommended for those without a car or reliant on public transport.
If needed, we're happy to provide numbers of local taxi and car hire firms.
