Rooms above the ground floor require the use of stairs. ~~~~~~~~~~ Arifuku Onsen, nestled into the deep green mountains of Shimane prefecture, is a hot-spring village founded over 1300 years ago. Its crystal clear hot spring water, known as "natural lotion," is famously good for your skin. There are three public baths in the area that you don't need a reservation to use: "Gozen-Yu," "Satsuki-Yu," and "Yayoi-Yu." After soaking in the hot spring water, you can enjoy delicious foods and beverages that make use of fresh, local ingredients. In this hot spring town full of nostalgic brick buildings and cobblestone staircases, you can spend your time however you like.
Arifuku Onsen
Arifuku Onsen is a historical hot spring resort located in Gōtsu City, Shimane Prefecture. Its hot springs have been well known since the 7th century AD, and are said to have been discovered by the legendary Indian sage Hōdō while he was travelling deep in the Shimane mountains.
Arifuku Onsen is famous for its alkaline spring water, with antioxidants and a slightly high (less acidic) pH level that promotes healthy and beautiful skin.

Traditional Kagura performances by local Kagura-dan "Iwami Kagura." These powerful, close-up performances are held on the first floor of an atmospheric wooden building. (Reservation Required)
Arifuku Daibutsu (Giant Buddha)
Arifuku Daibutsu is said to have been carved in 1938 by Satō Tairyō, a sculptor from Oita prefecture. The Buddha is carved from a giant camphor tree, and features a distinctive face gilded with gold leaf.

※ Please avoid using Prefectural Road 50 until you reach Hamada East IC.
Getting on Prefectural Road 50 from the Asahi IC is very dangerous, as it is a winding, narrow mountain road built along a steep valley.
We recommend staying on E74 Hamada Expressway until the Hamada-higashi IC, or using the Naka Greenline.
