Great stay at this bungalow! Kept us sheltered from the heavy rain and wind. Would recommend lots of layers on cold nights, since you have to be pretty close to the fire for it to be really effective. This place is super cute!! And we had no trouble finding the place with the very detailed directions provided.
Came in the evening, and easily got lost on the road. There’s a ton instructions to follow to get to the cabin, and once we got there we were still lost since the sign has a different name on it. We tried calling the host but it went right to voicemail and we didn’t have good service. The cabin would be fine in the warmer months, but in the winter and spring the wood stove doesn’t heat up the building as much as it should. We didn’t see any mice inside but we found one in the glove compartment of our rental car after (and it stayed there for a few days eating the air filter)
The road getting to this place is rough but worth it. The wood burning stove kept me warm enough on a cold night. Wish I would have brought propane to use the outdoor kitchen, but otherwise really enjoyed my first off-grid stay. The setting and the peaceful sound of the creek and frogs really set this place apart.
自我介绍
Living off the grid with my husband is the single most satisfying change in my life. He grew up on this land off-grid til he was 13, now bringing you a piece of his childhood. We want to share this vast world of simple pleasures with other souls seeking peace. Building with trees harvested from our land, sawing our own cedar boards, and repurposing materials such as windows and wood stoves is our preferred way; less waste, closer to a simple pioneer life. We invite you to experience and share this outdoor haven. I also host “The Birdhouse”, which we renovated (not off-grid—full power+water), on a friend’s land west of Forks, Wa. As of 2023, we bought raw land (Camp Awana) that someone else owned for 20 years, in which they set up large canopy tents and cleared trails + a grassy space. When not maintaining our garden or building/maintaining our property, we are often backpacking (especially off trail) in the breathtaking Olympic mountains, or beachcombing the coast for agate and other treasures.
