The little Caboose, 9 sqm, and kitchen/bathroom, 5 sqm, on our property are a much loved get-away surrounded by native vegetation- a fun and retro place! Idyllic, romantic, but also quite rustic: you have to cross the deck to the bathroom and kitchen, whatever the weather, but then - the shower is amazing! I teach cello and you may hear this at times, as well as plenty of birds. A 5 min stroll to Queen Elisabeth Park and the beach. Private gate and on-street-parking. The Caboose is a cosy space with a queen size bed bedroom and easily heated. There’s seating on the deck, surrounded by native vegetation and plenty of birdsong. On arrival you will find freshly ground coffee and tea, granola and cereal, bread, butter and jam. The Caboose is built entirely from upcycled materials, such as wooden packing cases and recycled timber. Almost everything inside it is carefully selected and likewise second hand or pre-loved.

Such a cute little cabin to stay in for the night. Close to Paekākāriki beach to watch the gorgeous sunset, nice and cosy in the evening. Robert left us some homemade bread and jam for breakfast, so generous!

Our stay at rivers place was exactly what we needed, a tranquil, private, comfortable room with a brilliant shower. We loved the stylings in the ring and the wabi sabi tiling. Would stay again

A unique, private and relaxing place to stay. Close the beach too! Robert the host provided excellent support via the Airbnb app. The place has everything you need and is very comfortable.

Paekākāriki has excellent cafes, shops and artist studios, right by the railway crossing into Beach Road. The beach is beautiful and dramatic. You can walk it all the way to Raumati, the next village, or, heading south, to the steep cliffs at the other end by the “Fisherman’s Table” restaurant.
5 minutes away is Queen Elisabeth Park, a well managed, beautiful regional park with many paths and an excellent bike path.
From the village centre you can embark on the demanding and adventurous Escarpment Track which takes you all the way to Pukerua Bay.

出行信息

Paekākāriki is good for walking, jogging or biking. You can choose between the beach front, Wellington Rd and Tilley Rd. (20 min)The car takes you to the other end in about 5 min. Parking is generally straight forward. Beach Rd by the shops and cafés can get crowded, but you will find parking nearby.
The train takes you to Wellington in just under an hour and to Paraparaumu in about 10 minutes.
