Welcome to the Hokie Hideaway, nestled in the serene woods of Christiansburg, VA! Our cozy and recently updated cabin is the perfect retreat for nature lovers and Hokie fans alike. Here, you'll find the perfect blend of tranquility and convenience, as our property is located just a short drive from Virginia Tech and the bustling town of Blacksburg as well as Radford University. The cabin accommodates 4 guests, making it perfect for a romantic getaway for two, a family, or a group of friends. The cabin is located behind the main house on the 4 acres of our property. Parker (my co-host) and a couple of roommates live in the main house, along with Mya, a sweet Doberman and two cats, Otto and Percy. You may see Mya in the fence, she is very friendly! Percy likes to explore the property! As you approach the cabin, you'll be captivated by the lush greenery and towering trees that surround the property. The cabin and main house were both built by Ray Kass, world renowned artist and Professor Emeritus of Art at Virginia Tech in the 1970's. The cabin's windows are from Burrus Hall on VT Campus in 1974. Step inside the Hokie Hideaway and you'll be greeted by a warm and inviting interior that has just recently been renovated. The windows on two of the walls span from floor to ceiling, providing beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and wildlife that like to visit. The open space comfortably accomodates four guests, making perfect for families to come visit their students or a romantic getaway for two. There is a queen bed and a sofa that converts to a double mattress. There is a comfy twin bed in the loft. The small but well-equipped kitchenette provides all the amenities you need to prepare meals during your stay, including a refrigerator, combo microwave/convection oven/air fryer, and a Kuerig. The dining table expands to allow four guests to sit comfortably. After a day of visiting the campus, hiking, biking or exploring the nearby trails, relax and unwind in the cozy space, complete with comfortable seating, and a 58" Smart TV for entertainment. One of the highlights of the property is it's stunning outdoor space. Step outside onto the intimate porch, where you can breathe in the fresh mountain air and listen to the sounds of nature. Relax in the rocking chairs or enjoy sitting around the fire pit (wood provided) perfect for stargazing and rejuvenation.
We stayed at Hokie Hideaway while visiting with our grandson at Virginia Tech. We were not at the cabin much except to sleep, but we enjoyed the location and peaceful surroundings. It was very cozy and just what we needed. Kathy checked in with us after the first night to make sure all was well. We did not use the kitchen, but it appeared to have all necessary items in spite of being small.
The cabin was a perfect place to stay while visiting my son at Virginia Tech. It was close to the campus but yet far enough away to experience the beautiful scenery of Southern Virginia.
Me and my son love this place it was awesome. I think this will be my spot when I come up to visit with my son at school.
Kathy's Hokie Hideaway was the perfect place for us to stay while visiting our daughter at Va Tech. Before our arrival, Kathy sent helpful information to guide us in. Upon our arrival we found carts in the parking area. These were great for wheeling our stuff down the path to the cabin. The cabin has a rustic charm exterior giving way to a fresh and super clean interior with all the amenities that we needed for our short stay. We were blessed to have the most beautiful weekend so we took advantage of the short nature walk down the path to the firepit and sitting area. Returning back after dark from a short drive to convenient restaurants near by, we found the path to the cabin well lit for a safe walk back. It was very clear that Kathy has given much thought into considering everything you need to enjoy this place. We have already booked for our next visit to Blacksburg!
The property is on a private unpaved road and is a bit bumpy. We are centrally located and are a quick 7 minute drive to Christiansburg restaurants and shopping and 15 minutes to the towns of Blacksburg and Radford.
The property is on a private unpaved road and is a bit bumpy. You will pass 2 other houses on your way up Black Bear Run Road. Our property is on the right side of the road and you will see the main house before seeing the driveway. Parking spots are immediately to the right when you pull in the driveway and has a sign designating parking for the Hokie Hideaway.
The property is not handicap accessible due to the long walking path to get to the cabin.
