Northern Norway at its best.☺️ The Blacksmiths house is a charming house with all the modern amenities centrally located in Lofoten, with 4 large bedrooms and comfortable beds with new bedding as of August 2023, and one and a half bathrooms. The main bathroom and kitchen have been recently refurbished and all crockery, cutlery, pots and pans are new as of August 2023. In the lounge there is a new comfy couch for relaxing after long days of exploring the Lofoten islands. There is also a TV and wifi for those indoor days. The Blacksmith's house sleeps 9. The fourth bedroom with 3 beds is in the basement (with 2 full size windows) - please note that the staircase to basement is narrow and steep, and there is a separate entrance that one can use if necessary. History of the Blacksmith's house: Welcome to the Blacksmith’s cabin – home to the first blacksmith in Sund – Hans Gjertsen and his wife Petra. Both Hans and Petra were pioneers in that they already in the 1960’s started focusing on tourism with the establishment of the Sund Fisheries Museum in 1964 and well as shifting the blacksmith business from the coastal fishing industry to tourism and souvenirs, amongst other the now famous Cormorant – said to be a good luck charm for fishermen. In 1980 Hans and his wife were awarded the Nordland County Council Culture Award for their “outstanding cultural work and craftmanship”. There are still many elements in the home that showcase the handy work of a blacksmith.
