Semi off-grid cabin, campsite, and parking area Toilet and sink inside outdoor shower 1000 watt solar power. 15 amp 120av inlet available in cabin with surge strip, and 2200 watt quiet generator for our guests Marked hunting grounds up the street. Very close to National Rec area. Awesome hikes in area. Lake stock full of walleye & bass. Near newly expanded Cedar Canyon beach & boat launch. 2 miles to RV dump station. Natural gas tanks on neighboring prop in view. Off grid folks live in area. Please read everything below: My wife and I comfortably stay in our cabin with our two kids, and our dog. It’s super close to the lake, which our kids love. Hunting, fishing, hiking, boat rental at marina all super close by. The cabin parking area is approximately 60’ deep straight back. From the front of the driveway to the very back of the parking area is 87 feet long. If you would like to also camp on the property you can put a tent down anywhere you like, but the parking area base is mostly gravel. At its narrowest point the entrance of the driveway is 18 feet wide. The easiest way for a longer vehicle to access the driveway is by turning left from Dumas Dr. traveling west down Griffin. Griffin road is dirt and has a steeper uphill section to the west of the cabin. To turn the water on there is a water hydrant on a coded lock. The water is under pressure so it comes out very strong when the hydrant is open, so please open very slowly. On site inventory: 2 pillows 2 beach towels 2 bath towels 3 blankets Fold out table Small refrigerator Kitchen Trash can Some plates, glasses, silverware, spices, paper towels First aid kit - we take inventory at end of stay, so please ensure nothing accidentally leaves with you. 2200 watt quiet generator/extension cord in cabin / 1 gallon fuel can (obviously only run the generator outside). When you are not at the cabin please bring the generator inside and lock the door. Generator run time on full tank is about 8 hours. 1 gallon fuel tank under the front steps / please refill fuel tank for next guest. There is an AC unit that can be plugged in when you power it with generator - there is an inlet for generator in a sealed plug on the outside north wall of the building. SOLAR IS THROUGH THE BLACK POWER STRIP ONLY. The light switches and lights in the building do not work - they are not attached to the solar. There is solar power in the building for small electronics. Instructions included on arrival instructions. Coleman propane camp stove / one small propane bottle in cabin currently, or connect to 20lbs propane tank There is a propane heater inside the building. Instructions included on arrival instructions. There is a foldable futon that is basically the size of a twin bed when you fold it out flat Also, Twin air mattress w air pump The hot water heater runs on propane behind the building. There is a bbq style 20lbs tank on-site behind the building. If for some reason the propane runs out during your stay, please exchange it and I will pay for the exchange. The hot water works on pressure. The lower the pressure, the hotter the water will be. Please keep this in mind with the sink, the water comes out very hot when it’s turn on low! Same in the outdoor shower - the lower you turn the hot water, the hotter it will be. Some of our friendly neighbors are living off the grid. Please note there is a view that includes some natural gas equipment on my adjacent property… welcome to energy country! Check out procedure: In the spirit of a campsite, we kindly ask that you take out whatever you bring in as far as trash and leave it as you found it for the next guest. There is NO trash pickup service locally. We also ask that you relock the water hydrant and disconnect and lay the white hose on the ground. Please fill the small 1 gallon gas can for the next guest. The gas can is located under the front steps to the cabin. Closest fuel station is All Sups about 2 miles from cabin. Lock the front door by holding down the top button on the key pad and pulling slightly towards yourself. Please make sure all blinds are closed so it can’t be viewed in from outside. Turn off the propane bottles in the rear and the side of the building by turning the knob clockwise. There are three propane tanks on site.
Cozy little Airbnb! I had some trouble finding the place (be sure to plug it in because Verizon coverage is spotty). If you’re not technology minded, this might be a bit tricky for you - I couldn’t figure out how to turn on the solar or the water. There were instructions, but I couldn’t figure it out. The cabin otherwise is peaceful and has all you need for a weekend getaway!
We only stayed 1 night, but everything was exactly as described. Instructions for entering and getting water/electricity running were crystal clear. Only thing I would have done differently is either brought a sleeping bag or laid more of the available linens on the futon. My side was rough. Otherwise, it did what it needed to do and gave us a place to stay without having to drag our pop up camper with us. Would stay here again as the spot is lovely.
Great place to stop and stay to take advantage of local attractions or quicm stop and go en route to next spot.
Truly enjoyed our stay and the cabin fit our needs perfectly. It was easy getting in although the Pine Sol cleaning prior to our arrival was stout and we had to air the cabin out for a little while. The warm weather caused the wasps to be very active but the host had a can of wasp spray available and we did use it. The only item we needed that we didn’t think to pack was a fly swatter. We had to leave a day earlier than expected and we were sad to go but we would stay again!
It’s remote! You may hear packs of howling coyotes. You may see a rattlesnake. Scorpions. Cactus. Huge bucks and other wildlife. And certainly no light pollution to see our beautiful Texas sky and stars.

I am a father/husband, a volunteer, and a long time IT professional that not only enjoys staying at other people’s Airbnb’s, but I have now listed my own personal properties for other people to enjoy as well. I love traveling, and I have tried to make investments in places where I want to take my family. When I am a guest, my goal is to be the best guest you could possibly ever have, and likewise, when I list my own places, I want you to enjoy them as though they were your own.
