Location – About the area Povljana Povljana is located in the south of the island of Pag, in a beautiful natural bay facing the west, protected from the strong gale and southerly winds. Traditionally, Povljana was an agricultural area that fed most of the island for centuries. Povljana has many sandy and pebble beaches with gradual access to the sea. The location is very suitable for small children. It has a very indented coast with numerous beaches, such as pebble and rocky in the center, sandy beach Perilo on the road of St. Nikola with showers and a cafe, beach Mali Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik - a cove with pebble beach where there are two cafes, benches and showers, a beach volleyball court, and about 350 m from the beaches there is also an area with healing mud, Livade, and Obatnica beaches - they are located behind Perilo beach, in a sandy bay and, Stara Povljana beach - the cove is reached by an asphalted road through a field, on the south side there are rocks. On the north side, there are many hidden smaller sandy coves. Dubrovnik Beach is available for beach volleyball, and you can also rent pedal boats, boats, canoes, or scooters, and popular sports include windsurfing. A newly built lighted promenade stretches along the sea, where you can rollerblade, skate or ride a bike. Plains surround Povljana and offer additional cycling paths along the natural rockery, but you can also take the road to the garage of Pag, about 10 km away. More than 100 kilometers of bicycle paths are thus available through the island of Pag. One of the cycling trips we recommend is visiting the ornithological reserve Velo Blato. Another favorite activity is diving because in the immediate vicinity, you can observe the rich underwater world and fish in the sea and lake Velo Blato, for which you must first obtain a fishing permit. Povljana is a quiet Dalmatian place, but the local tourist board organizes a rich cultural and social program in the heart of the tourist season. Pag Pag is a fascinating island with unique geographical features: it is the only Croatian island administratively divided between two Counties - the northern part belongs to Lika-Senj County, while the central and southern parts belong to Zadar County. It is world known for its colorful and vibrant community, and rich cultural heritage, appreciated and celebrated around the globe. Pag Town is located in the center of the island, famous for its carnival, with both a ‘winter’ and summer version. The Pasko kolo is a traditional folk dance that is often performed during the carnival. The island is also famous for its lace-making and the local cheese – Paski sir (meaning Pag cheese) – made from sheep’s milk. If you visit, you have to sample both of these. Pag has become an increasingly popular island in recent years, considered one of Croatia’s premier party destinations.
