Two minutes from Prades' beautiful town square, and with a roof-terrace overlooking snow-capped Canigou, this charming, vintagey townhouse house makes the most peaceful, cute getaway. This house is full of old-school charm, furnished lovingly with vintage pieces, with its piece de resistance being the sun-filled roof-terrace with amazing views of the mountains, the town and surrounding hills. Situated right in the middle of the old town, and three minutes walk from the main square (and weekly market), the street itself is quiet, with very little traffic. There is one room on each floor, linked by a beautiful, enclosed wooden staircase. The front door opens onto a kitchen/dining room which remains beautifully cool in summer. This is not a super-modern set-up, but simple, pleasant, functional and well equipped, and dotted with all my best finds from the flea markets and vide-greniers! On the second floor is the petit salon, a sweet sitting-room, and a perfect place to work or read. There is also a sofa-bed which can host a third guest and has its own sink and a beautiful (non-functioning) fire place. The third floor is the bedroom and is also home to a bath tub/over-bath shower. You can bathe and gaze at Mount Canigou! Finally the top floor can act as an additional living-room/reading room, with a door opening onto the gorgeous roof-terrace. The terrace itself has incredible, panoramic views of Cangiou and the surrounding valley. There are table and chairs, a hammock, sun-lounger and a sink, which makes it a lovely place to lounge, eat breakfast, lunch and star-lit dinner. It is south-facing and has a canopy that can be put up and adjusted when needed. The house is quirky and shows off its age in the fact that there is no actual bathroom, but it does (don't panic) have all the essential components of a salle de bain! The toilet (with hand-wash basin) is situated in the cellar beneath the kitchen. It has its own stall, and the cellar itself is spacious, well lit and houses the washing machine and a couple of bicycles. As mentioned, the bedroom has a bath and shower and there are sinks/basins on all other floors. Whilst this arrangement is certainly unconventional, it works. One must just be prepared for a lot of going up and down stairs!

Really unusual and unique place to stay in the heart of the community, lovely and quiet with great views from the rooftop terrace and easy stroll to get to town. Great boulangerie 3 mins away, Tuesday market day really worth a visit too, Prades comes to life. Great location for the shops and train station to get further into the mountains on the train or back to visit beautiful Orgues d'Ille-sur-Tet. Loved it, Brian and Caroline
Tout était tel que ce à quoi je m'attendais d'autres la description, sauf qu'en vrai c'est encore mieux ! Tout est bien rangé, propre et stylé, tout en restant simple. il ne faut pas être paresseux avec les étages à monter et descendre, mars ça ne m'a pas du tout dérangée. La vue dégagée sur les montagnes, surtout depuis la terrasse, est vraiment très agréable !!! Je ne regrette qu'une seule chose, c'est de ne pas avoir pu rester plus longtemps. Je recommande vivement ! 👌
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour chez Frances. La maison est vraiment atypique (on s'est beaucoup cogné !) mais superbe. La terrasse est vraiment agréable, le tout est décoré avec beaucoup de soin, on s'y sent comme chez soi. Nous recommandons à 100 % !
maison ancienne remise à neuf en lui concernant son histoire. Vivre là c est refaire 1 voyage avec le passé mais aussi avec des notes de modernité. lieu atypique à découvrir même si c est sur plusieurs niveaux
This house in Prades is easily one of the best stays I’ve had on AirBnB. The house is spacious and split among 4 floors. It keeps very cool inside despite the beating sun. The roof terrace was plenty spacious for two people and gets plenty of sun during the day. The bed was very comfy and the shower had enough hot water to last two of us comfortably. The kitchen is very well stocked with plenty of utensils and crockery to allow any kind of cooking and baking. The best thing about the house are all the little decorations and trinkets found in every corner of the house. All of the items feel curated and chosen, not just mass-bought. The location is great, with a 1 minute walk to a bakery and around 5/7 minute walk to the train station. The area is very quiet at night and even during the day. There are plenty of restaurants in the town square which is a 3 minute walk away. Although we didn’t meet Frances, she was very kind and accommodating over text. I would return here in a heartbeat.

The road is peaceful and the neighbours friendly. It's so handy to be right in the centre of town. I love nipping out to the market, the cinema or to a cafe at anytime. Plus there's real pleasure in being able to leave the house on foot and embark on a day's hiking in the hills!
You can rent a car in Perpignan (and there is free parking in Prades, close to the house but no parking on the street itself) but the incredible thing about the house's location is that you can get everywhere by public transport for the mind blowing price of 1 euro!
