Comfortable and spacious dual aspect room with a king size bed and private en suite shower in a 19th century former vicarage. This large old property is now home to our extended family, and although bustling with activity inside and out, it is very accommodating due to its size and many of our guests have described it as peaceful. We are surrounded by trees and greenery, and have a large garden including a walled vegetable garden and various herbs and fruits growing around the place during the summer months. The room is located on the first floor at the front of the house (south-facing) and overlooks the trees surrounding the property.

We enjoyed staying at The Rookery very much, and we were welcomed and taken care of beautifully by Lindsey.The bedroom was spacious and bed extremely comfortable. The bathroom was self contained in the bedroom, and that was appreciated. We enjoyed a light breakfast with other guests, and it was interesting to meet Lindsey’s family too. It was a great start to the day. We ate in the local pub The Crosskeys” which was excellent and easily accessible on foot. All in all we would definitely be returning should we be in the area.
I booked this stay for my Mum, after having already stayed at Lindsey’s myself several times. Mum was delighted with her stay! She said: I was made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Beautiful clean sheets, comfy mattress, fresh home-made breakfast and friendly delightful hosts! This was the second time we stayed at Lindsey's & the room was just as we remembered - light, bright & spacious. The kind of room you immediately feel at peace in. Lindsey was very welcoming when we arrived & was very helpful with location information when we asked about where to eat/get food, for the evening. We really appreciated the ensuite bathroom - this is a big plus for us! The house is lovely & quiet to stay in & the surroundings are peaceful, whilst also not being too far from Glastonbury - which was the reason for our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & I'm sure we'll be back!
It's a nice place for someone who needs quietness and privacy. The host was helpful and respectful.

Lydford-on-Fosse is located on the crossroads of the A37 and B3153 and is served by a popular local pub as well as a petrol station and store. East and West Lydford are only a few minutes walk away, with a wild swimming spot on the River Brue in West Lydford as well as footpaths, orchards, and a community garden to explore.
If looking to visit a little further afield, we are conveniently within a 10-mile radius of the market towns of Castle Cary and Somerton as well as various places of interest, including Glastonbury Tor, Clarks Village, The Newt, Wraxall Vineyard, and Hauser and Wirth.

My husband, Derek and I have lived here for more than 20 years and have spent the last ten or so renovating the house. It is Derek’s task, as is growing vegetables and fruit in the walled garden. I make jams and jellies when there is a surplus and sourdough bread all the time. I work part time so Derek is often meeting and greeting guests.
