Long walks, riding a bike, dine at some excellent nearby restaurants, or cook the latest NY Times recipe that caught your eye together in the Mountain House's well stocked kitchen. Enjoy some quality family time watching a movie, or out by the fire pit (we supply the firewood) laughing and making s'mores. Get a good night's sleep on super comfy mattresses in the mountain air. The Mountain House is a NON-Smoking, no party home. Genuine post and beam architecture with soaring 24 feet ceilings in the great room, stone and heart of pine floors, no carpet. Lots of big windows for great light....furnished in a sophisticated yet relaxed way so that you get a warm, peaceful feeling as soon as you walk through the door…tranquil as a recent guest called it. Can’t we all use some tranquility? There’s plenty of seating in the living area (why don't all big houses have TWO sofas?), huge trestle dining table for everyone as well as a 10 foot handcrafted dining table on the back porch. The screened porch (everyone's fave) has a big hanging daybed with tons of cushions and blankets even for chilly nights... reading, enjoying a glass of wine, or better yet...taking that long promised nap! There is a second living area in the lower level with HD tv and plenty of seating, a game room with foosball and ping pong, plus a full bath with heated floors and a King bedroom that is very private and opens on to the back lawn. On the upper level, a beautiful queen bedroom and a darling twin...they share a hall bath. On the main level is the great room, terrific cook's kitchen with a five burner Dacor gas cooktop, two Kitchen Aid wall ovens, big fridge (plus an extra fridge in the garage), soapstone countertops, farmhouse sink, all the cookware you might need and great dishes for serving dinner. There's also a lovely mudroom at the side with front loader washer and dryer, pantry, second sink, and cubbies for hanging things. There are 3 bedrooms on this main level, one king suite with huge closet, heated stone floors in the bathroom along with walk in shower. Two lovely queen bedrooms share the hall bathroom, which also has heated stone floors. All bedrooms have large windows that let beautiful light flood in. Outside the mudroom is the gas grill, and steps down to the herb garden and a gorgeous boulder fire pit with Adirondack chairs where the whole family can tell tales and make s'mores! We have the long stainless marshmallow roasters - you provide the marshmallows! Please be mindful of the septic system and do not flush anything down the toilets or drains other than toilet paper. This includes any and all personal hygiene products, baby wipes, bleaches and strong chemical cleaners.
