Now OPEN for summer reservations ONLY! The magical Anthracite House is tucked away on peaceful High Street, just a 3 to 8 minute walk to shops, restaurants, attractions and trails. Built in 1842, this historic Victorian home has modern amenities and an art gallery vibe. 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and plenty of space in a scenic garden environment. The house is kept very comfortable by 4 separate AC window units and shade! **Must climb stair cases. Everywhere you go is uphill or downhill!! This home provides a singular space to explore Jim Thorpe, and it's extensive history as the epicenter of the anthracite boom in the mid 1800's. This 3 bedroom home is rented out in the summer and is full of old and new art, historical objects from the coal era and many books and windows to bring the outside in, and help you experience all that Jim Thorpe has to offer!

Jeffery couldn't have been a better host. The house was amazing and as even more unique than I could imagine. The warm fall weekend had the entire town packed with people.Jeffery and site manager Chad even offered additional parking near by so some family could join and enjoy the house. The fall train ride is a must but be sure to get tickets early in the morning. I hope to be back for years to come. Thank you again.
Host was very responsive and the house was beautiful. If you have any mobility concerns be aware that it’s on a pretty steep hill. But we were on town for a wedding and wearing heels for part of our stay and it was manageable! Great location
You will be pleasantly surprised when you arrive. The photos on Jeffrey’s listing do not do justice to this lovely, unique home… filled with treasures of artwork and beautiful decor. Quiet and comfortable, with all the amenities needed, it is truly a special place.
Anthracite House is like a quirky, arty museum. We came to do Jim Thorpe but hardly wanted to leave the place. One of our best Airbnb experiences to date
I can't say enough good things about the Anthracite House. Beyond my expectations. The house was so comfortable and meticulously decorated. We especially liked the intelligent lighting throughout the house. The front porch was beautiful in the afternoon and early evening and mornings for coffee. Centrally located and overlooking the town we could not have hoped for a better experience. Nestled in the side of the hill under a canopy of trees this is one of the most special homes, if not the most special we have ever stayed in. We can't wait to come back! High Street is just off W. Broadway, tucked away from the noise and traffic.
Aptly named because of its position overlooking W. Broadway, High Street is on a hill, and you must walk everywhere, either uphill or downhill. If you don't like sound of this, then we have other more appealing locations down the street.
Jim Thorpe was built before the Civil War in the horse and buggy era. Streets are VERY narrow and street parking is scarce to non-existent. BUT, not to worry, as we have reserved off street parking for 2 vehicles. Please let new know if you need parking for a 3rd vehicle.
ALSO, there is a county parking lot near the Train Station.
