We had a great stay. Visited with my two young children (4 & 6) and their Nana. The kids loved waking up and exploring the site, saying good morning to the alpacas and having a bit of freedom to roam by themselves. The bell tent (we have a 4 person) was clean and well laid out for us. We had everything we needed in the small kitchen area too, it was nice to arrive with just clothes and some food in a cool box rather than the usual clobber required for camping. Off site, we did a nice walk around the local farm land as recommended by our hosts. Then headed to Kilve beach (25 min drive) for fossil hunting and rock pooling. Stopped for dinner at the Farmers Arms. Really nice, relaxing stay. My mum (75 years) was pleasantly surprised by the experience as she isn't a camper - she even said the compost loos were decent (they are cleaned twice a day and don't smell at all). And she even had a hot shower! All in all a great site and lovely hosts. Looking forward to our next visit!
Wow! If like us you enjoy peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings then this is the place. A stunning bell tent with everything you could possibly need provided. Uninterrupted views of surrounding countryside, wildlife galore and the perfect spot for stargazing. The added bonus of waking up to alpacas a short distance from the tent was just magical. The shower is the perfect temperature with wonderfully scented natural shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided. There’s a kitchen area in the courtyard (all cleaning products provided) with charging points for your phones etc. A fridge and freezer and games/books to borrow. I would also recommend the alpaca walking as they are the most adorable animals and the cake provided afterwards was delicious. I could go on but I promise you won’t be disappointed.
I honestly couldn’t be happier with the experience. The effort and dedication was amazing. Really enjoyed my stay and looking forward to coming back again. Me and the kids had the best time. Highly recommended
We absolutely loved our stay at Pickney Farm. The tent was so cosy and spacious. The beds were super comfortable. We had everything we needed to cook and bbq. Very well thought out and a wonderful location. The alpacas were great, such curious and sweet creatures! We would stay again without hesitation!!
We had the most wonderful, ralxing stay at Pickney Farm - the best glamping experience yet! Very helpful hosts, spacious and well equipped glamping area, well cared for alpacas, beautiful surroundings - the perfect combination for a brilliant getaway. Great for adults and children alike. We will definitely be back to enjoy a summer holiday stay again.
You will be located in some truly beautiful countryside where only the sound of birds, horses and the odd tractor passing by will disturb you. You will be staying on the edge of a night sky area which means that on clear nights you will be treated to a truly remarkable evening of star gazing.
We have a small herd of alpacas on site.
There is a footpath that runs through the farm which you can take to the picturesque villages of Kingston St Mary, with a fantastic pub (The Swan) 2 miles, or to Bishops Lydeard, 2 miles, with lots of local amenities, including an excellent brewery and a steam train that will take you out to the coast on a day trip.
For a more strenuous hike you can follow the footpath to the top of the Quantock Hills and escape into nature with views as far as Wales and towards Glastonbury.
This campsite is in a rural location so having your own means of transport is probably advisable. There is plenty of off road parking for cars and secure space to lock bikes. The nearest public bus stop is to the local Villages of Bishop Lydeard and Kingston St Mary. Taunton train station is 4 miles away.
