The house is in a secluded location but there are nine neighbouring properties, three of which are also listed by us on Airbnb. Your indoor and outdoor space and parking area are just for the use of this one listing but under some circumstances guests from one of our other listings may need to walk through the garden occasionally. These guests do not have the use of your garden, nor has this ever caused a problem.
Around the house are fields with horses, cows and sheep etc as well as agricultural buildings, streams, a ford and power lines. Depending on the time of year there may be sowing, harvesting or hay making going on around the property. The property is accessed by small lanes and does not suffer with road or rail noise.
Our property is within an easy drive of Longleat (9.3 miles by road), the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Bath (14 miles), Stonehenge (25 miles) and Avebury (22 miles) and our guests regularly enjoy trips to Lacock, Stourhead, Farleigh Hungerford Castle, Cheddar Gorge, Bristol and beyond.

You will need a car while you are here to make trips to Bath, Longleat, Stonehenge etc easy, as well as visits to supermarkets and lovely local eating places. If some of your party are coming by rail the house is equidistant between Trowbridge and Westbury stations, both of which have good taxi services and are on direct rail routes from London and Bristol. We do not recommend staying here without any vehicles although some guests have done so. This is a muddy, countryside setting, accessed through a shallow ford, and we recommend bringing welly boots for some lovely bracing country walks. We are happy to lend you a map and guide you about some of our favourite local walks, including one to a nice foodie pub in Hawkeridge, within easy walking distance!
