The setting of David’s home is unique; Private, with gorgeous views. The house felt very cozy and welcoming. We used it as a base for The Celtic Colours Music Festival. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a lot of time to chill, but it certainly would have been a nice place to just relax. We enjoyed coming Home to it each evening. The house was very clean, and had everything we needed, and then some. I would highly recommend David’s place while visiting Cape Breton Island.

We spent almost all September ‘23 at Big Harbour Hideaway and it was a totally delightful vacation . The home was super clean, warm, cozy and so very well equipped . We lacked for absolutely nothing . Beds & linen were 1st class. The setting is incredible. From our first contact, David was more than helpful and obliging. Our questions were answered completely and promptly. The waterfront is a short easy walk to another beautiful view & a large dock with 4 chairs . We enjoyed morning sunrises & coffee there as well as later afternoons with a different beverage and amazing sunsets . Judy from Sydney, was only a text or a call away & arrived on 2 occasions to cut the grass and check all was good . She brought drinking water and flashlights should Hurricane Lee head our way. She has great knowledge of the property and we enjoyed her company . Our stay at BH Hideaway was a fabulous experience and we thank David and Judy . We do hope to return for another great stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It was very clean, well stocked kitchen, and super peaceful surroundings. The private dock and beach were a wonderful place to cool down and spend time on hot days. We really enjoyed this location. We would definitely visit this space again. The cottage is a gem.

We really enjoyed our stay at Big Harbour Hideaway. The location is excellent, as it is off the main highway and there is very little traffic. This made for a really quiet and relaxing vacation. David wasn’t kidding when he said that the pictures didn’t do the cottage justice. The view from the deck is simply stunning! A short jaunt down the hill takes you to the dock and fire pit as well. My husband and daughter enjoyed taking the 2 person kayak out on the lake. As far as the cottage itself, it was spotless. It was the perfect size for our family of 4 and our 2 fur babies. The kitchen had everything you could ever need (e.g., coffee filters, condiments in the fridge) which was really appreciated. I think my favourite part was having my coffee each morning on the screened in porch and listening to the waves of the lake. The piano was enjoyed by all, and the quilts were a really nice touch. It definitely has a vibe of rustic charm. The cottage is a good central location, as we spent a few days hiking in Cape Breton. I would highly recommend staying there!

David's place is great. Lots of room, nice dock, beautiful location just down the road from Baddeck and within easy striking distance of Sydney.
