12 Gates cabin is located at Brown Mountain Beach Adventure Resort on Wilson Creek. Take the virtual tour on our website! 12 Gates has 2 bedrooms with queen size beds that open to a large screened in porch, a full kitchen, 1.5 baths, gas fireplace, living room with a couch and futon, a private courtyard with a fire pit, hot tub, and grill. Brown Mountain Beach Adventure Resort is a small family-owned business bordering the Pisgah National Forest on Wilson Creek. The resort has a rich history, with some structures dating back to the early 1900s. There are six cabins and ten yurts on the property that are all uniquely designed. Head to our website to tour them all! While you are there, check out our BMBAR Menu and Creekside Conservation Cafe's offerings too!! There is no WiFi in the cabin or yurts, but WiFi is in common areas around the resort. There are also no TVs on the property. Here at Brown Mt. Beach Adventure Resort, we encourage adventure and relaxation from our busy lives. So bring a book or grab a canoe, unplug and enjoy! Let Wilson Creek entertain you year-round!! There is no cell service; however, using WiFi on the grounds, you can enable WiFi calling on your cell phone when you need it!! We also have several landlines you can use, AND staff are always onsite! 12 Gates sits directly on Wilson Creek with a large screened-in porch overlooking the creek. In the 12 Gates cabin courtyard, you will find a covered gas grill, picnic table, and hot tub!! 12 Gates courtyard is fenced for privacy from the other cabins. 12 Gates has two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have a queen bed and adjoin a half bathroom with an additional door leading to the screened-in porch. 12 Gates has a full kitchen, a large living area with seating around a large gas fireplace, and a full bathroom. There is a maximum occupancy of six guests. If you have more than four guests, please let us know. We will have a sheet, pillow, and blanket set added to the futon for you!! Towels and bedding are provided for you. All cabins and yurts have both heat and air conditioning. Essential cookware, utensils, and dinnerware can be found in your cabin. 12 Gates has a regular drip coffee pot with some complimentary coffee, but don't forget we sell specialty coffees too!! The only disposables we provide are toilet paper, bath soap, hand soap, and dish soap. Brown Mountain Beach Resort is a perfectly nice spot, and most of our stay was lovely! One thing that's not described terribly well in the listing is the privacy - you're in fairly close quarters with other cabins, which during our stay were fully booked. It's not uncomfortable, but it's not quite what we expected from such a rural, mountain location. The cabin itself is unfortunately rather poorly set up. The lighting is extremely bad, mostly floodlights that blind you or don't appropriately light anything, without much in-between. The cabin layout doesn't really lend itself to shared time together, with 3 strangely placed couches around a central fireplace that segments the room in a rather odd manner. The kitchen was alright, but not great - we had knives that were unable to chop veggies, and the gas stove featured 2 non-functional burners and 1 that barely functioned. We also saw a mouse running through the cabin halfway through the stay. All in all, not bad but not outstanding.
What a cool eclectic spot! We stayed here during the winter, so we weren’t able take advantage of the kayaking and tubing available, but we thoroughly enjoyed the property on its own. The fenced in area was clutch for our dog and we made good use of the hot tub. Our kids really enjoyed visiting the animals on the property. It was a great homebase for us to explore the area. We really appreciated all the love and care that has gone in to making this property a special place. The host proactively communicated with us, and were very helpful when we had questions. We would love to come back and stay in the summer!
All the employees were very pleasent and helpful. We extremely enjoyed our trip and will be back. This place is very pet friendly. So if you have an issue with pet hair, or are allergic. Definitely make your host aware. Very beautiful scenery and great for hikes or drives throughout the mountain's.
Lovely setting - a perfect, private getaway with no cell, no TV, no Internet! Very peaceful.
Great place to unplug. Beautiful area. Close to home, would go back for sure.

The closest store is the Collettsville General Store and the closest grocery store options are Lenoir and Morganton.
We have a parking lot across from the Rock Pavilion you are welcome to use during your stay.
Each yurt and cabin has its own designated parking.
