A wonderful, if short, farm-stay in the Eastern Freestate. Elsie was a responsive and accommodating host who was still able to serve a scrumptious freshly cooked meal even though I arrived late and and equally delicious breakfast early because I was leaving early. The accommodations sit inside a raised valley but are easy to find (well signposted on the R26). The room was well built (great woodwork adorns the usual EFS stone-house) and it had all the amenities for self-catering if that is your inclination although I'd say to miss Elsie's cooking would be a self-inflicted crime. A great place to visit for a farm-stay and to be fed home-grown and home-cooked cuisine. The neighbourhood is also quite special with the usual but never to be missed Eastern Freestate habitat...

If I could use only 1 word to describe my stay: MAGICAL! Luckily, I'm not limited to just 1 word, as I would really like to express just how special this experience was for me. So, picture yourself surrounded by majestic mountains and a huge, immaculate garden; accommodated in a comfortable, warm, beautifully decorated farmhouse rich with history; hosted by the most incredibly friendly, compassionate, down-to-earth, and free-spirited powerhouse of a mother-daughter team; spoilt with utterly delectable meals made with the freshest ingredients sourced straight from their farm & garden; involved in rewarding activities of daily farm life; and immersed in nature with mountain trails that lead to the healing energy of a magnificent herd of beautiful, wild Arabian horses. Now you have just a little taste of the unforgettable experience that Elsie & Salome have to offer! If you've found yourself drawn to this listing, you're clearly meant to have found this magical place too. :)

Elsie is a very accommodating, flexible and friendly host. Any place that allows me to travel with my 2 dogs is a winner. Fresh, raw milk straight from the cow was a real treat and something special. Chocolate and soap on our pillows was a nice touch. Really pretty hiking trails and views.

Elsie is a lovely person absolutely friendly and natural. We loved our stay the bedroom was lovely with everything so neatly laid out . We felt at home from minute one, and immediately watched the milking of cows , on the farm. We will definitely stay again if we are in the area. Her husband made us a fantastic breakfast in the morning, which included an excellent farm made yogurt, with walnuts and honey. Such a lovely family on this working farm,it was soo peaceful we will be back .

We had a great time at Elsie's. The house is very nice, the domain is great. We enjoyed a very nice walk in the morning on the estate. Elsie and her husband are very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend you plan to have dinner at their place, it was absolutely sumptuous! After spending a year in South Africa, I have no doubt that this was one of the 3 best meals I have had in this country! Thank you so much for everything! I look forward to visiting you again in the future!
