Please don't stay here. My wife and I are easy going, clean people, who are not easily upset. We stayed here for 3 months for work and left very upset. Pros: The space itself is a little old but fine. The neighborhood is cute and the shared kitchen is a nice size. The house sitter was awesome (we were with her the first 2 months while the host was away). Cons: The heat (no A/C), the host, and everything else. We stayed here over summer and our space was very hot. We were told it was fine to work from home when we booked our stay and that is not true. The room reached 99 degrees several times and was often 10 degrees hotter inside than outside (even at night it was often 85+ degrees in the room). When we contacted the host who was out of town, she told us it was not that bad and that we could just go downstairs. We did use the downstairs, but the shared space wasn't as conducive for working, and was still quite hot during the day. She later agreed to reimburse us for a cooling fan and then refused to pay us back for it (~$130). After we left, she contacted us to say she changed her mind and would pay for it, but at that point we had already given it to a friend when we moved. For the first 2 months we lived with a house sitter and got along fine. The sitter was friendly, clean, and really helpful. Near the end of our stay the host came home and our experience quickly turned miserable. She would seem fine one day and yell at us about a kitchen pot the next day. She told us that we made her uncomfortable in her own home (even though we mainly stayed away from the public spaces), and acted like we were ungrateful children as opposed to paying guests. We understand that an Airbnb has rules and procedures, and we tried our best to do things as she asked (we left the space clean and never broke anything), but she would always come up with something new or small to scold us about. She was very belittling and rude (the house sitter told us that the host called my wife a b****), which my wife and I are not used to experiencing through Airbnb. After 10 days with her in the house, my wife and I were so stressed and unhappy that we barely went there to sleep. We decided to leave a week early and pay $1000+ for a hotel just to get away from her (with no refund for the time remaining on our stay). A few days later the house sitter moved out too because she was also being harassed. You might be fine to stay here for one evening but we do not recommend it.

Really wonderful staying with Mika in her peaceful home. The room is clean, spacious, private and comfortable.

Mika is a phenomenal person and you are lucky to have the chance to stay at her home. This is probably my favorite Airbnb experience that I have had. She is so warm and inviting. The house is awesome, the room upstarts is very large and clean. Great if you have studying/work that you want to get completed. I definitely cannot wait to see Mika when I visit Oakland again. Thank you!!

I am new to Airbnb, and what a fantastic first time experience! Mika is a wonderful host, and her house is beautiful. The upstairs area I stayed in is spacious and nicely setup. Her gardens are lovely, and the house is located in a great neighborhood. I very highly recommend staying here!
