The Bakery is situated at the western part of the Capertee Valley, surrounded by stunning rock formations. It's a great starting point for many beautiful hikes in the Glen Davis area. Unbeatable value for money if you are not looking for something fancy.

Thanks John . The Bakery is an eclectic, peaceful, and compfy place to unwind . Everything we needed to make our stay pleasant was available and the knick-knacks and furnishings were from another time. We met Jason. He was a wealth of local knowledge and a real character . Only complaint was the bed. I am 6'4" so it is too short for me.

The scenery and birds around Glen Davis is stunning. The tour of the old shale mine is definitely worth it. The Bakery is a rustic and quirky home, full of homely items and in a good location. But as John says, it's not a "boutique hotel ". We certainly did not expect "boutique ", but we expected that the amenities normal in a rental property would work a lot better than some did. The TV, microwave, dishwasher and shower screen either didn't work or were faulty. The fridge was quite modern and the bed comfortable, however the mattress protector had a horrible brown stain on it. As mentioned in previous reviews, the house was quite dusty and just about every surface was covered in dust. Not sure why this issue is not being addressed. Overall, we had a great time in Glen Davis and The Bakery could be a fantastic venue with some attention to a couple of issues standard for rental accommodation without being "boutique ".

A perfectly relaxing getaway. Glen Davis takes you to another time. Almost a ghost town and the Bakery has real character and charm. This is John's residence that he generously shares when he's away without fuss. If you want 5 star boutiquery look somewhere else. This is a cosy house with a great CD and DVD collection and an old school kitchen that has pretty much anything you could need. The rooms are much bigger than they look in the pictures, and decorated with a bit of a period vibe. The surroundings a blissfully quiet and the sky at night is brilliant. We did some cycling in the area and hiking along the Capertee River, but wish we'd spent more time there just to chill out. Will certainly be back.
