Villa La Corte is located on an isolated hill just outside the tiny village of Castel dell'Aquila, in the heart of southern Umbria. The house, dating back to the 50s, has recently been renovated. Completely clad in light exposed stone, it features rooms of great charm and elegance, finely decorated in delicate shades of gray and white, with wooden furniture and carefully matched accessories. The multiple entrances on the ground floor make it continually accessible from the outside. The large living room, which includes the comfortable lounge and dining area connected to the professional kitchen, expands out onto the large portico in front and onto the adjacent swimming pool, consenting full use of the lovely well-tended garden. At the centre of an area of high natural value, in which culture and history harmoniously combine with ecologically intact and scenically beautiful environments, within a radius of a few kilometres you will discover treasures of undiminished charm like Orvieto, Todi, Spoleto, Perugia, Assisi and Norcia as well as the beautiful Marmore waterfalls, the famous archaeological area of Carsulae or the suggestive fossil forest of Dunarobba. Castel dell'Aquila, about one kilometre away, will be the reference point for your daily shopping. A large furnished portico extends along the front of the house; from here the main entrance leads into the living area of the house, consisting of a living room divided into dining area and lounge area with sofas, a fully equipped professional kitchen with barbecue fireplace, a guest bathroom and a laundry room. A flight of steps on one side of the house leads up to the upper floor with two independent entrances: the first opens into a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower while the second leads, through a living area with kitchenette, to two bedrooms, a double and a twin (with joinable beds), sharing a bathroom with shower. Castel dell'Aquila is situated on a hill 348 m high. Since it was founded in 1294 by the city of Todi on the so-called Colle Nobile (Noble Hill) it has conserved intact the old vestiges of its glorious past as a military stronghold, like the old square tower and the two round keeps that delimit the access to the bastion. All around are fields cultivated with vines and olives, oak woods crossed by numerous mineral springs (such as those of San Gemini or Amerino, ever synonymous with well-being), farmhouses and old manor houses designing the background of a environment which has been preserved intact and offers splendid frescoes of agrarian picture-postcard scenery, perfect to explore by car or on foot but also ideal for cycling enthusiasts. We are, in fact, in the so-called Comprensorio della Terra dell'Acqua e dei Ciclamini (District of the Land of Water and Cyclamens), ideal for cycling and exploring the splendid natural parks such as that of Farnetta with its cycle routes and paths through the dense woods, or for taking a step back in time thanks to the testimony preserved in the fossil forest of Dunarobba, or for discovering the historical traces of the Romans testified to by the town of Carsulae above all and by those of the via Flaminia. Travelling a few kilometres you can visit some urban masterpieces of great value, among which should be mentioned: the beautiful borgo of Lugnano in Teverina with its lovely square with the collegiate church of Santa Maria, the town of Amelia, with its historic town centre guarded by impressive polygonal walls and its numerous churches and historical monuments, Narni with its splendid palaces and the secrets of its underground, where Etruscan ruins and labyrinthine paths are preserved, Orvieto, Spoleto, Civita di Bagnoregio, the papal city of Viterbo and many other natural beauties (such as the Marmore waterfalls, the highest waterfall in Europe, situated in the protected area of the Nera River Park). Adventure and fun lovers can go to Rieti, a prestigious rafting centre, which is about 40 km from the house. The property is easily reached from the Autostrada del Sole: take the Orte exit and then continue along the road in the direction Terni - Perugia (E45 highway). The closest airports are Perugia, 75 km away, and Rome Fiumicino, 137 km away. Small supermarkets, restaurants and services can be found in the centre of Castel dell'Aquila.
