自我介绍

I'm the Jan part of Bob and Jan. We have lived in the area since 1984. Bob, a Chemistry/Physics teacher in the Hermann area and I, a stay at home mom raising our 11 children. We were a homeschooling family for the most part with a few of them attending full or part time at the public high school. We began a cleaning business so the kids could work with us and earn money to take music lessons. That business continues with the motto "Making you shine is our business." We worked often for Bed and Breakfast businesses in the area which contributed to a dream of having a place of our own to host travelers. Side interests: We also directed the local children's theater named MADKAP (Music And Drama, Kids At Play). When opportunity arose Jan would play tenor saxophone in the Starlighters Swing Band and bassoon in a chamber group known as Mozart at Moonlight. Jan drove countless hours and miles to music events and lessons in the St. Louis area to support my children who played string instruments, a harp, and Bob and sons who sang with the Ambassadors of Harmony. We love opportunities to cook and serve friends and family. Jan has taken three mission trips to Yendi, Ghana, West Africa and have been trained to serve on the Missouri Disaster Relief team but have not actually gone on a disaster mission yet. Jan loves ice cream, chocolate, knitting, playing piano. Bob loves working on the farmhouse and out buildings and just being busy. We both love and seeing our kids and grandkids and celebrating family. I'd love to go to Egypt to see the pyramids, a trip to Israel would be nice, and serving on diverse missions teams. Classic stories that have stood the test of time are my favorite. Patricia St. John, one of my favs, writes excellent children's stories and I love A. A.MIlne works on Winnie the Pooh. On my bucket list is to read aloud on the radio, or for recording company. Taking in a new movie at St. Louis' Plaza Frontenac with my husband or my elderly friend Bev keeps me in the movie loop. I enjoy the movies that are based on true events, historical, tend to pull the heart strings, and support traditional family values. I love people, meeting people and helping them find a greater peace in their lives. I tend to think that food is always the best avenue for that so I love baking cinnamon rolls for my guest, stocking the fridge for a hearty breakfast and just leaving treats for others to enjoy. Food brings conversation and conversation brings laughter, story telling, healing, and a greater bond with those you're with. Contributing whatever I can to that, brings me joy. We recently had a wedding for a daughter and painted the welcome sign : Where friends become family. Now for The Farmhouse I'd like to say; Where strangers become friends and friends become family. I'd like to think that the people who cross the path of The Farmhouse are touched in a way that brings more thought and meaning to their day(s).
