The pros: Patricio’s place has awesome working wifi, is very close to one of Madeira’s only sand beaches, bus and taxi stations, restaurants and cafes, and the airport. It was very clean and was a great starting point for day trips (like for Ponta de São Lourenço and Funchal). Patricio is also always responsive and willing to help with anything, especially check-in and out. The cons: it can be quite bright in the night due to street-lamps outside, you can hear everyone that walks or drives down the street, and you can’t leave your pastéis de nata (even if they’re packaged) on the counters (or else the ants will get them). Only half of the garden in the listed pictures is available to use and it has a separate entrance next to the house.

Wir waren für zwei Nächte in dieser Unterkunft und es war alles wie beschrieben. Durch die zentrale Lage hat man allerdings die vorbeifahrenden Autos deutlich in Haus gehört. Abends und Nachts war aber nicht zu viel Verkehr. Der Strand und einige Restaurants sind fußläufig gut erreichbar. Unser Auto haben wir auf einem kostenlosen, öffentlichen Parkplatz in der Nähe geparkt.

Perfect introduction to tiny home living in a glorious location! We had a wonderful time in Patrício’s tiny Fisherman’s Home. It has everything you need and compact, which is great for a few days away. It’s situated close to everything you need regarding cafes, bars, shops and the beach. The bus terminal is only a short walking distance and a taxi to the airport literally took 5 minutes. Machico itself is stunning and The Fisherman’s Home ties in so nicely with its history. The home itself is in a quiet road with lots of friendly cats and the sweetest old dog but do be aware as the occasional cars do sometimes whizz down the road rather quickly. The garden area is accessible through a separate door next to The Fisherman’s Home and is abundant with beautiful plants, fruit trees and flowers (look for the small lizards on the trees). We had lots of local cats that wanted to say hello which was also rather lovely! Obrigada Patrício, Grace and Mark xx

A great little apartment full of character with a lovely garden. Very clean and super close to everything, felt right at home here. Cars and people coming down the road can be loud but it’s not a busy road. Had everything we needed for our stay thank you!
