An immediate sense of timeless charm is apparent on entering the cottage, with a wrought-iron, spiral staircase in the hall leading up to the two main bedrooms. The kitchen is bright and contemporary, and there are two living rooms, one featuring a wood burner and exposed stone walls. There is a superb dining room off, with French doors opening onto the pretty and secluded cottage garden terrace. There is a second staircase off the living room which leads up to a small third bedroom, which is ideal for a child or small adult. Set in its own pretty country cottage gardens at the end of a quiet no through lane, the cottage offers a peaceful, yet accessible, location. The lane is notable as the shortest street in the country. Originally the main High Street for the town of Brora, it is has been bypassed by the main road and is now a quiet country backwater, yet just a short stroll to all the amenities of the this attractive Highland village. The coastline is known for its local population of resident seals and numerous sea birds and dolphins that frequent these shores. There is plenty to see and do in the area, and Brora has an excellent selection of restaurants, bars and shops as well as a hotel with a swimming pool that is open to non-residents. Golfing enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice, with the renowned Scottish links course of Brora close by and numerous other courses, including Royal Dornoch, just a short drive away. Dunrobin Castle, seat of the Dukes of Sutherland is just 10 minutes’ drive away. With its spectacular gardens modelled on Versailles and its location on the edge of the sea, it is well worth a visit.
