Grateful Meadows continues to be one of my favorite spots! I unfortunately had to cut my trip short but it was delightful nonetheless. The animals and scenery are lovely, the cottage is perfect, and I love the additional space in the house. The kitchen is well equipped and the space is always clean. Thank you for hosting me again!

Grateful Meadows is a special place-it's an "Agrotourism spot" with charming farm animals galore, a sophisticated, serene and romantic retreat, and a great home base for exploring the fascinating region of Tidewater Virginia. Hosts Jonathan and Virginia have a lot of ideas for sightseeing, but you might want to just stay put: they have created a lovely setting for a garden cottage, and every step to the cottage and every item in the cottage itself is well-thought-out to create a deep sense of calm that just envelops you. The well-appointed living, kitchen, and bath areas, were comfortable, and the vegan ethic was welcome as we have been moving closer to vegan ourselves. Getting to know the lovely creatures- donkeys, potbelly pigs, and surprisingly huge hogs they have rescued with their foundation brought us a lot of joy that we hadn't expected. We came for a ceremony at Mattapony Reserve and found our hosts there too! Victoria and Jonathan are dedicated leaders of the community.
