Polvadera · 整套民居 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · La Casita de Rancho Querencia, early 1900s adobe
Originally built in early 1900s, the Casita de Rancho Querencia, was acquired by the current owner in 1985, and has renovated it twice, most recently in 2018. The main part of house has 10-ft pressed tin ceilings. The casita boasts a modern kitchen stocked with cooking essentials, and a clean bathroom with a clawfoot tub. There are two bedrooms with queen size beds and flatscreen TVs, and a separate sitting room with sofa-bed. [NOTE: THE BACK BEDROOM MUST BE RENTED SEPARATELY] The large back Guest bedroom has modern original artwork , while the front bedroom and kitchen have a more traditional country style decor.
A great little casita to stay in if your looking to spend time at the Bosque. Close to Interstate 25 and not far from Socorro where you can find grocery stores and other provisions.
My husband Michael and I needed a weekend getaway. Jim’s place, Rancho La Querencia, truly met our needs - it was just what we needed to relax & get refreshed before going back to work & school! Jim was so helpful & was quick to respond! We truly enjoyed the rural nature & the covey of Gambel Quails & other pretty birds. Jim’s home was equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed the artwork throughout the home! Mostly, we felt at home!
This is a wonderful place to stay while exploring the area. Beds are very comfy. Highly recommend. This was our second time.
If you are looking for coffee shops and window shopping, this is NOT the place. This IS the place, however, if you are looking for peace & quiet, and a place to escape and not be found, and witness the diverse cultures and almost "third-world" feel you only find in New Mexico. The casita sits in the middle of 2 acres of desert scrub, at the base of the alluvial fan of Polvadera Peak which rises 2,000 feet above the valley floor, and right across Polvadera Road are the farmlands of the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District. The irrigation ditch roads make for interesting walks or drives through the valley, and on the opposite side of the highway you see the Polvadera Peak and the range of the Lemitar Mountains with the 10,800 ft high Magdalena Mountains, and if ambitious you can explore San Lorenzo Canyon 6 miles to the NW (5 miles of which require a 4-wheel drive vehicle). Nearby are many interesting sites including the San Acacia Cemetery and Indian Hill for a view of the Rio Grande snaking south through the valley, NM Tech, Socorro, Bosque del Apache, Water Canyon in the Magdalena Mountains, the Village of Magdalena and the VLA, .... Oh my gosh there is a LOT of outdoor stuff to enjoy.
You are approximately 10 miles from Socorro here. The nearest gas station, with a convenience store and a nice diner restaurant, is at the Lemitar exit 3 miles away. Belen is a half-hour to the north and Albuquerque an hour to the north.
