A boutique Hotel; this place may b an Airbnb but it was really like a boutique hotel. Everything was perfect inside and out ; beautiful gardens pool ; heritage garden. The apartments are beautiful with gorgeous linen and towels monogrammed and smelling Devine. The beds comfortable and the sheets crisp white, It is serene and peaceful being situated in heritage gardens next to the old mansion. We found a super market 2 mins up the hill; a great Portuguese restaurant next to the supermarket and the best sushi we have ever eaten at empire sushi around the corner. Because of the hills we took a taxi into town or to Peña which was easy and very inexpensive $5 AUD. We had a great time here Hugo looks after everyone and everything throughout the day and he was always easy to find and talk too . A great stay in Guimares

José’s family estate is wonderful and José is a gracious host. We had a very enjoyable time exploring Guimarães and the surrounding area. The area is beautiful and full of wonderful sights and people. Of particular note were José’s tour of his estate’s historic gardens and his local dining recommendations! We will come back to Guimarães next time in Portugal and look forward to staying and visiting with José.

Jose and his team were always right around the corner if you needed something but were never in your personal space. The grounds, garden and villa are stunning and sitting outside anywhere is so peaceful. Fresh bread at your door each morning, a fridge of essentials and comfortable beds! Wish we could have stayed longer! Jose was such a kind man to chat with and learn about the property and how it has been in his family for centuries. Quite amazing.

We enjoyed our stay at Jose's very much! My husband and I booked the 3-room villa to celebrate the holidays with our friends and the space was perfect. With 4 people, for 4 nights, it was really nice to have 3 bathrooms and an extra bedroom if we needed it. The gardens surrounding the villa are truly beautiful and Jose's dogs (kept separately from the guests) would stick their noses through the gate to say hello to us - they are very sweet! We walked into the historic town of Guimarães every afternoon, including Christmas day, and we never tired of its beauty. With all the holiday lights and music, it was very festive. Jose was an amazing host, he was very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed. He even checked in on us on Christmas to ensure all was well. Hugo, the very kind caretaker, brought us port and some snacks each evening and we discovered fresh bread and croissants on our doorstep in the mornings. I would highly recommend Jose's villa!
