The canal house was exactly what we wanted for our stay in Amsterdam. Close to everything and the tranquil view from the living room was quintessential Amsterdam.

Flat was in an excellent location. It is walkable to many great restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. It had great views of the canal and it gives you a true neighborhood stay. It was the perfect spot for 4 adults. Only draw back for the apartment is the narrow stairs up to the top two floors. It’s an adventure with luggage going up and down. Overall great stay that provides more character than a hotel.

The apartment is very well located, with a grocery store, bakeries and Vietnamese and Thai restaurants around the corner. As many have said, this is a 1700's Dutch canal house and has brutally steep stairs. If you have the slightest of mobility issues, this place is not for you. Theo lives on the first three floors and Frits is his manager of the unit. The very top floor is the one with the "kitchen" which was sadly lacking in cutlery, crockery and glassware. Mismatched stuff, one tablespoon, no wine glasses, etc. It wouldn't take much to completely redo all of this stuff and make minor repairs to the cabinets. The very top floor is for breakfast and there is a nice set of chairs on the lower level with a beautiful view of the canal. Odd thing - only one key,. There is some kind of electronic lock, with a control in the lower bedroom, but Frits had no clue what it was. Honestly, it was OK, but not worth the price.

Theo's place is in an excellent location with a beautiful view of the canal. The stairs are steep and tight as advertised, but we got out carry-on sized bags up with no issues. The privacy and view are worth the climb. Cafes, major sites, the tram are all nearby and even the central train station is within walking distance.

Perfect place, would definitely stay there again.
