This was my second (and my husband’s first) time staying in Doug’s loft. I was so pleased with it a few years ago and was delighted to find it available the weekend I planned to be in New York. The neighborhood isn’t what most would call charming but it feels safe, isn’t gentrified, I’ve been able to find parking on the same block, and the subway is a short walk away. The building itself is very quiet; I’ve only ever run into Doug in the hallway, so it feels very private. Bed is comfortable, kitchen is spacious and well-equipped if you plan to stay in. The best part, by far, is the art and decor. There’s no end of treasures to admire, and we really appreciate the whimsical, off-the-wall aesthetic and lush plantlife. Because it’s a private residence, one has the feeling of staying at the home of friend or family member who’s away on holiday. I only wish it were bigger so we could bring our kids, but it’s absolutely perfect for two guests. I wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else!

Doug and Tommy were extremely responsive and friendly. The check in was very flexible and easy, and the instructions (with photos) were excellent. The flat is very fun and quirky. The main spaces - floors, tables, bed, bathroom, kitchen - were all very clean. Doug and Tommy provided plenty of towels and soap and the wifi was fast. The shower was great - hot and good water pressure. For us there were a few minor downsides about the flat - the mattress was a little too soft, and the AC in the bedroom was noisy (it didn’t stop us sleeping though). The location was cool, laid back and felt safe. It was nice to be in a ‘real’ residential part of Brooklyn - we’d have explored more if we’d had time. However we underestimated how long it would take to get to downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan - by subway or taxi. It wasn’t a major issue, but if we return to New York we might stay more central to save in travel time. All in all, we had great time and thanks to Doug and Tommy for a great stay.

Doug and Tommy were great hosts! They have a unique loft located in a mixed-use warehouse building, filled with lots of different types of art pieces. We had a busy weekend planned so didn’t get to spend time with our hosts, but felt we got to know them through the art and decor of their living space. The apartment has a well-equipped kitchen, a comfortable bedroom, and a small bathroom. It’s in an industrial part of Brooklyn, very close to the new Industry City development. The area still feels pretty industrial, so guests should expect that going in. Both Doug and Tommy were super responsive and accommodating whenever we needed anything during our stay.
