<p>A charming coastal bolthole with stylish interiors close to the shops, cafes and beach at Seahouses... just a few steps from the harbour!</p> <p>Farne Retreat is a stone built cottage with three bedrooms for five guests. Accommodation is beautifully presented, a much loved holiday home with a sitting room with wood burning stove and comfortable cream leather sofas. The kitchen has everything you need for your self catering holiday. </p> <p>Seahouses is a great base… stroll around the shops, pop out for breakfast or dinner and relax. It’s worth getting out and about and exploring this beautiful area of Northumberland with its many castles and market towns all within easy reach. Just 3 miles north is the impressive Bamburgh Castle which dramatically clings to a rocky outcrop. Seahouses in Beadnell Bay with its unique west facing harbour is a great spot for sailing, windsurfing and scuba diving. It’s 5 miles to Holy Island and Lindisfarne and golf, fishing and horse riding are all available locally.</p> <p><br /><strong>Size:</strong> sleeps 5 in 3 bedrooms<br /><strong>Beds:</strong> 1 x double bed, 1 x twin beds, 1 x single bed.</p> <p><strong>Accommodation:</strong></p> <p><strong>Ground Floor</strong></p> <p><strong>Kitchen:</strong> Electric oven and hob. Negatives were... Fiddly central heating, lots of random cutlery kitchen utensils. Rooms had damp staining on some walls and smelled slightly foisty when the heating was off. One frint room chair had bent leg and could not be used. Only one bath towel per adult is not enough for a week even with a washing machine to do washing. A waher dryer would be mire useful as only one drying rack and a tiny clothes line available. Small fridge was completely iced upon arrival and ice box had loose food in it. Ice box had to have ice removed so fridge door could clise. Ice box was useless. Would be better if fridge freezer was present. Bath took sges to drain. Bathroom sink tap stiff to turn off. No drawers for clothes which is okay if living out of a case. Positives.... Place was warm, had secure parking, closevto seahouses centre and amenities. Would stay again but would hope things improve!
Good basic accommodation in a good position close to the harbour. Awkward parking.
So firstly the cottage itself is charming, in a lovely location right in the middle of Seahouses. The cottage itself has lots of period features is pretty spacious. It’s a beautiful cottage but unfortunately not very clean or that well equipped. It’s a real shame, the amount of dust was severe and certainly hasn’t accumulated in a matter of weeks. The master bedroom and bathroom were the dustier rooms. Thick dust on the bedside table legs, bedroom sockets and skirting boards - right next to where we slept. We are all asthmatic so this level of dust causes a real health hazard for our family. The shelves in the bathroom were thick with dust and unusable. The shower curtain was slimy and full of pink mildew/mould, again it’s taken months to get that bad and certainly isn’t washed between bookings. I did wash it and it came up pretty well. The kitchen was dusty and the baking trays were greasy but just had foil put over them. Some of the bedroom furniture was also broken.
We had a wonderful time here. You can walk to the beaches north and south of Seahouses from the cottage...great for body boarding. Cottage is well kitted out and comfortable. Pubs and shops in easy walking distance. Happily recommend.
Fantastic location with lovely pubs, restaurants and beach within walking distance. Would definitely recommend staying here.
