We had a wonderful weekend celebrating our anniversary at the Fischer Hut. The solitude and beautiful scenery was just as we were hoping for! We went during high avalanche risk time and almost cancelled the trip because we were not familiar with the area and couldn't find good information online about travel to the hut. We called Pavlina to talk about our concerns and they were responsive and assured us that the area we would be traveling was low risk. Anyone concerned about the travel, rest assured it is very safe on the road the whole way - there are a couple of very short spots that have moderate risk, but overall we felt very safe. We were told the road is plowed, but that was not the case for us. We broke trails the entire five miles. Prepare yourself for a hike! It took us just over 3 1/2 hours, but we were able to ski down the whole way back - a fresh wax will help the cause -you'll scoot and pole the first mile and then cruise the rest of the way. Special spot, we'll be back!
