First the good. Great location in the Quarter, great balcony and easy to check in. Now to the not-so-good. Super weak wifi signal. Pics online didnt quite show how old the property was and how "time-worn" it was. For example the flooring felt like I would fall through on places. Water pressure was weak and by the way, for no reason the water went off. When I contacted management, they were slow to respond and only said, "City Check .. will be up in a few minutes." Not very helpful. People had water everywhere else. It came on after 45 minutes but made me late for a reservation. Couch was very uncomfortable. Toilet was in a tight spot between wall and sink. If you are a large person, be forewarned. You may have trouble sitting on it. Closet door was off the track. Looked broken. Oh yeah, remodeling was going on and was loud. Hadn't been told of this. Overall 2.5 stars. Super location but probably wont stay here again.
Location location location. The St Philip Residence’s spot in the French Quarter largely makes it worth putting up with some “quirks.” Are you okay with no bathrobes/shampoo in exchange for a drunken stumble to Bourbon Street? Are you willing to bring a sound machine - dang those walls are thin - and gain a beautiful all-for-you (and your neighbors…) porch? The bed was extra comfy, porch lovely, and AC cold. What more could you ask for?

Excellent location, on a scenic but relatively quiet French Quarter street. Handsome historic building. We loved the balcony, overlooking the pretty street, where we heard and saw more clippity-cloppity horse-drawn carriages than cars. Great walkable area, close to restaurants and shops. What this second floor apartment lacks in soundproofing (we could hear a neighbor snoring), it makes up for in character and architectural appeal. The bed seemed to be a double (not a queen), so we had a cozy sleep. We were puzzled as to why there were no hangers in the closet--just a few hooks on the wall in the hallway. And no drawers or shelves. Fine for our overnight stay, but less convenient for longer vacations.

Saint Philip Residence a Hospitality of New Orleans property has been often called the best-hidden gem in the city. The building is a brick double townhouse that follows the Creole traditional architectural style. Its exterior stairways, balustrades, window treatments, fluted columns and capitals, fences and gates are all original, providing you with the quintessential French Quarter experience. Saint Philip Residence overlooks Saint Philip Street and features 15 residential-style apartments, a lush courtyard, and multiple private and semi-private balconies. In each space you will find plenty of room to relax; arranged more like apartments than a traditional hotel room. You'll feel right at home with us! Famed author Robert Stone lived here with his wife Janice when he wrote “Hall of Mirrors” in 1960. The book was later turned into a Hollywood movie called WUSA. Saint Philip Residence is the true flavor of New Orleans and has a very colorful past. In the 1940's it was a brothel run by one of New Orleans most notorious madams. The very large gallery balconies overlooking St Philip street and surrounding streets are mesmerizing and a great place for morning coffee or sipping wine in the evening, not to mention people watching as there are always events, parades, and interesting people passing by.
