Walk up 3 flights, but must meet up with owner to get the key and tour. Comfy bed, quiet, clean. Man in kitchen in morning felt weird.

I booked here because I was in between moves and where I was living was 32 minutes away from my new job, so this location seemed ideal to cut my commute. If I were to use one word to describe my stay, though, it'd be "inhospitable." At the time of my stay, Winter 2021, the homeowner does not live onsite and the other people in the house (2 to 3 renters) did not use the heat in the shared spaces (entry, halls, living room and kitchen). Though I am lucky that it was warm (~55 degrees), this really bothers me. It's also bad for a house because the pipes could freeze without the heat on, a much bigger problem than trying to save a few bucks on the heat bill. It also sucks to exit a nice warm shower in the dead of winter in a cold house (after growing up in Alaska, I am disinclined to deal with it where possible). They also did not put any dishes away in the time I stayed (4 days), and while there was a garbage bin, it was empty (no liner), there was a BUCKET with a plastic bag in it. ...What? This house had little individual heaters for each room, and even though I turned the thermometer to about 68, my fingers and toes were still often cold. I only saw one person, and I want to imagine that that person maybe did not speak much English (which is fine, I love meeting new people from everywhere), because he seemed to prefer to stare at his phone at the kitchen island rather than exchange a pleasantry or two with an actual person. I had said "hi, I hope I didn't startle you" to which this person replied "working" and so I went about my day. If you ask me, watching what looked like streaming videos does not look like work, but hey, I did interrupt and was trying to be polite for doing so. Also, this house is not quiet. The people come to life later, around or after 9:30 pm. They talk really loudly and/or make a bunch of noise, and do not seem to realize that the stairs act as a megaphone for the noise they are making-- noise that ends up in the master bedroom (at the top of the stairs). They also started laundry at 9:30 PM or later (laundry shares a wall with the master bedroom). They also appear to have stolen a Fred Meyer hand basket (who does that?). I can also understand if, where they grew up, they didn't put the lights on when it got dark out, but I really appreciate having lights on when I arrive in the dark. It makes me feel welcome. There was also a door to one of the monthly renters' rooms that made this awful squeak -- and it strikes me as odd that this person didn't ask the homeowner to put a bit of oil in the hinges. I'm talking a screech that you'd hear in horror movies; Wes Craven couldn't record a more jarring door screech. And guess who woke me at 2:24 AM with said screech? I want to believe it doesn't occur to the monthly renters that other people exist. That an airbnb booking is that infrequent... The glass in the bathroom (shower enclosure and mirror) was not clean, but the bathroom was otherwise nice. Downside: I think because the hot water maybe has to rise 3 floors, it took the faucets forever to get warm to wash my hands (90 seconds or more), but the shower got nice and hot. Also, I was wondering why my asthma was flaring. I had to use my inhaler (which is rare for me) for days. I took a closer look at the room. I ran my finger along the windowsill and it came up coated in fine, white dust. I later noticed dust on the bed, on the door hardware and probably on all the trim. There was also a bottle of beauty product under the bed that someone else clearly forgot and the homeowner did not notice. I also noticed a palm-sized smudge on the duvet and did my best to keep away from it. Sadly that made me doubt the cleanliness of the room in general. The comforter was sumptuous and the pillows, at least, were nice and fluffy.
