Most of Ierapetra's history is right here in "Kato Mera", which is how we locals call the old town. The fishing harbour, the Venetian Castle of “Kalé”, small orthodox byzantine churches, a 19th century Mosque and a house that Napoleon spent a night are some of our town’s most important landmarks, just a few steps from the apartment.
The beach amazing crystal clear waters and is nicely organised with sunbeds and umbrellas, while along the beach there is a row of restaurants and cafés, to get a taste of delicious local cuisine.
Ten minutes walk from the apartment you can find the ferries for Chrissi Island, our very own exotic paradise, with turquoise waters, golden sand and protected cedar forest. The boats leave in the morning and the trip takes about half an hour.
Within walking distance of a few minutes there is a cretan supermarket, pharmacies, souvenir shops and shops for anything you might need.

Ierapetra is a small, flat town, ideal for walking and cycling. Almost everything you need is within walking distance. However there are more than 20 unique villages in the area of the municipality, many seaside with amazing beaches and taverns, others on the mountains, with gorges, small forests and exceptional local food. To explore all that freely, you might prefer to rent a car for a few days. There is a free parking lot, a few meters from the apartment.
