We had an a great time at the Cortijo. We were looking for somewhere peaceful, away from the crowds and surrounded by nature - and this is exactly what the place offers. The Cortijo is in a small hamlet located in a beautiful valley, with walking all around. Coming from England, it was great to sit outside and hear nothing but nature and the breeze. It's remote, but that's the point. The night skies are particularly impressive! It's spacious, comfortable and has all the things necessary for an enjoyable stay, like a well equipped kitchen and plentiful hot water. The description of the internet was accurate - we found it perfectly good (5-10mbps) about 95% of the time during our stay, but it did drop out for a few minutes now and then. If you need to be glued to Teams or Zoom, it might not be ideal, but for us, it was a perfect excuse to top up a drink or take in the scenery.

My husband and I spent 61 nights at Mateo’s cortijo which is in a small hamlet in the hills. Extremely peaceful and picturesque, the location is fabulous if you enjoy privacy, walking, stunning scenery, wildlife and you wish to experience the REAL SPAIN - you will not be disappointed. It is reasonably isolated so a car is essential, but not that far away by car from a couple of bars for some interaction with the locals. For shopping, the drive into town (Arboleas and Albox) for groceries and weekly markets is a very pleasant trip. There are many authentic villages to discover which make for a fabulous day trip - excellent dining and wine and so cheap. The cortijo is immaculately presented and very authentic. The photos do not do this place justice! It is big and could easily accommodate a large family or maybe two couples travelling together that want their own private part of the house. Very nicely furnished, with two wood burners, comfy furniture and throws. Two terraces for eating outside, sunbathing or just gazing at the views - fabulous stars at night and owls. We would have no hesitation in recommending staying here. Mateo is an excellent host. He was prompt in answering any questions we had and is very knowledgeable of the area. This is a little piece of paradise and we will never forget the local walks, discovering the little villages. Thank you Mateo for the happy memories.
